So I have been trying to set up recording via tivimate and sparkle with a kinhank G1. It has the latest android tv 14 os. So far I have been unsuccessful in getting anything to record either via external storage or internal, with either sparkle or tvmate. Just curious if this is a known issue with android tv 14 or if anyone else has experienced the same issues.

You can record with android 14, but it is more of a pain. I have an H96Max model M9 with a RK3576 cpu (64 bit) and android 14 (non-rooted). It is at another location, so I don’t have all the details here.

Both Sparkle and Tivimate are recording to drives. One of them is recording to internal, which I have extended, and one is recording to external. There is no system picker in android 14 so forget about using that to obtain write rights to a folder. However, the download folder is open to the user, and I am using that or a sub folder of it for my recordings.

Sparkle always used to record to a sub folder of android/data, which is off-limits on most systems. I hated this, because you do not have easy access to your recordings. However, with the latest revisions, Sparkle has added the ability to choose a folder for recordings. This will only work, however, if you choose a folder with write rights.

while you’re here Miki lol

What version of android does the new buzz box run, and how is the recording setup on it?

Android 13 (Tiramisu) recordings and scheduled recordings work well. I recorded to internal and to an external SSD plugged into the usb 3 . No issues at all.

did you use system picker for tvmate, or what steps did you use?

Yes I used the recording setup in TiViMate. I can do it without the System Picker using X-plore, but most would find it easier using the system picker.
