The QR patch is for you to connect. Simply scan it and then it will auto connect your device without having to fill in all your login info. You can always choose manual login. It’s something Stremio implimented a few months back. I find it very conveniant as my phone scans QR codes.

The QR code will not scan for me. I can not get past the QR screen. I installed Stremio from Google Store. I am using a Nvidia Shield Pro. Also, I would like to join as a guest… it won’t let me.
I must be doing something wrong.
Any tips for me?
I pay for Syncler+ cuz it’s only a few dollars a month and SO worth it.

Stremio is definitely not up to par with Syncler+ in my opinion.

A good thing we all have options as for years now Stremio has worked flawlessly for me without any cost to me, and the shear joy of only having to set it up once and then simply install and login on any other device without having to configure it any more is very helpful and it keeps track of my episodes I’ve watched as well. Not sure why anyone is having issues with the QR code, I scan it with my phone and a login window for the Stremio site opens up and I log in and the device is added and I’m in. But this is with my registered login, not as a guest, so I can’t address that part of it. You could always choose the “manual log in” option. Another thing I like is, as it’s cloud based, any potential malicious code doesn’t get to me.
Have fun and STREAM ON!!!

Stremio is asking for my Real-Debrid API key. Is that what we have to do to use Stremio?

Yes - you’ll need to input your api key in your stremio setup registration.
…that’s assuming that you want /have RD account that you want to incorporate with some of the Stremio addons - which if you have RD, you should.

No you don’t. You can “add” the API key for RD into the torrentio setup but it isn’t absolutely necessary. It isn’t anything to do with Stremio registration. That’s simply a matter of providing an e:mail and setting up any password you choose. Stremio pull lots of sources without RD. In the torrentio setup there is a section (debrid provider) to configure RD as part of Torrentio and I copy/paste the key using my phone. They even provide you a “link” to get your RD API key.

Hey Miki,
Can you help me? I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled Stremio countless times on my Nvidia Pro, all to no avail. Can you help me determine what I am doing wrong? It seems to install properly, but when I open it to watch a movie, EVERY movie requres a paid subscription in order to play. I can’t even get the suggested movie, Night of the Living Dead, to play even though it is public domain. H E L P !

I’m assuming you have addons installed and are using the latest version. When you open it you will have a left side panel that allows you to access your settings, do addons, look at your library where your saved series and movies and a Discover section where you find the stuff you want. In Discover when you click on a movie, for example, it will open, you will see a list of your addons just below the Movie info, choose one by clicking up on the remote navigation ring and then scroll right to choose the addon you want. Once highlighted the addon will display sources below it. Click down on the navigation ring, scroll right, choose your source, and click to play. When using the navigation ring you can move up to | Movies | Popular | Default and click on each one of those to open other options and click enter to change what you want. It’s all about scrolling and navigation. GL2U.
I prefer Weyd over Syncler as far as paid apps. Stremio is pretty awesome for free.

Hi Miki,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Yes, I have add-ons installed (those that loaded automatically with the installation) with version 1.63. The add-ons are Cinemeta, YouTube, Watch Hub, Public Domain & Local Files (w/out support). Am I missing any?
The Library is empty and the Discover section has a long list of movies - that I cannot watch. Any movie I click on shows a variety of sources. However, everyone requires a subscription - including those in the public domain, which should all be free.
As an example, the first movie shown is Reptile. When I click on it it does NOT show a list of my add-ons, but rather it shows 3 sources, Netfix w/subscription, Neflix Basic w/subscription and Fandango subscription Canvas. Clicking on any of them brings up the same error message, “Failed opening external link”. It is the same with every movie I’ve tried. Some movies have a dozen or more sources but they ALL require a subscription of one sort or another. There is a piece of this puzzle that I am missing but I have no clue what it is.
By the way, I followed Troy’s installation instructions to a tee - a few times with the same result.
Miki,
I just read your post from 5 days ago that listed a whole bunch of add-ons for Stremio. I think that is the key I have been missing. Do I simply open a browser on my TV and plug in, “https://stremio-addons.netlify.app/”, then click “this link” from the 2nd sentence in the heading?

You only have the basic addons and no “community” ones. You have work to do. On the device you have installed it on, go to the following site to get the addons you need.
Simply click on the Movie and Series ones you want and you will see an “install” line. Click it and the install is automatic. Now I use my phone, for example and when clicking “Torrentio” I click the gear icon and go down line by line to configure it. For example I unselect telesync, cams, 360, 420 and pretty much anything less than 720. I also go down and choose my Debrid Supplier which is Real Debrid and then if I haven’t already gone to Real Debrid, logged in and copied my API key, then the setup has a “click here” option to get your key and then copy it and paste it into the config panel and install. It’s that easy.

I have not been able to install Stremio on my iPhone. I registered my Stremio account on my Windows PC. My iPhone is indicating that my password is incorrect. I
really appreciate Miki’s efforts. I have made progress, but no brass ring yet. I am looking for more suggestions.

As long as your PC is Win 11 you can install androud apps on it. Stremio hasn’t had i stuff integration for a while. I think it can be done now but I never tried it as I’m not i anything. But on a Max stick you can install it and use the Silk browser and I had a powered Smays hub and had a mini keyboard with a dongle, a 64 GB Sandisk, and ethernet. That way using the KB I could easily copy and Paste the API key.

I would like to do all this stuff on my Nvidia Shield Pro. I like your idea of doing everything on your phone and syncing it to Stremio. But, so far no luck with that.
here’s a link for all Stremio platforms, including mobile. I have it on my Shields and I did install on my laptop just for the convenience.

Oooh look. They now have an app for iOS. Limited edition but hey give it a go. I’m sure you could do it on the Shield Pro but I never surf the web on it so not even sure what browser works.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. With your instructions I was able to complete the installation vis-a-vis the hunt & peck method.
Actually I was able to add a number of Add-Ons, thanks to your guidance.
I had to do a number of steps that were not in your explanation (not faulting, just saying). Do you know if actual step-by-step instructions are available anywhere? Troy’s instructions on installation made no mention of all the steps required that you explained.
