There’s no way to turn off auto renewal yourself anymore. You have to contact support and practically beg for it. I had signed up for a one month subscription to see how well it worked with my devices, ISP, etc. but I sure didn’t want to renew it at $10.99 a month. I wanted to be able to use a Troypoint link so he gets the credit too. After several emails I finally got them to send me an up to date link for canceling auto renewal. Whew!

I agree, you have to watch out to extend any VPN services to get cheaper rates. In my case I cannot access some of the apps on Firestick in the UK and they would also not give me a refund. I am now only signing for 1 year even if it is more expensive
Also never allow to auto renew

I just opened an account with them about 2 months ago and I can’t stand them. I still don’t know how to even use this stupid thing. Their customer service is pretty much non-existent.

Well, you did have a free 30 day trial period. You should have taken advantage of that.

I posted about Express and the screenshots I posted were from their site just this morning. I went to My Account> My Subscriptions>Scroll down to Turn On/Off Automatic Renewal

Also, in my searching around this morning. I found a deal for $6.67 a month ($80 Bucks) for 15 months.

I’m pretty sure Troy has a tutorial on how to use it and his suggested settings. Worth looking into.

So they sent you an email notice prior to the subscription being auto-renewed? My sub is still a year and a half from expiring…so don’t trust my electronic or paper calendar to remind me lol.

I need it. I turn it on when I watch my side loading apps.

I have mine set to auto-on when device is activated. I whitelist most all the legal stuff.

No, they went ahead, charged and renewed at a ridiculous rate, but in the renewal email they had a link to their website where you could request a refund due to unauthorized renewal or something to that effect. It disabled the surfshark service, but I went to surfshark logged in and renewed at the 28 month rate… pretty frustrating, but got the renewal refund immediately. And it didn’t cancel my account at surfshark, just said it was expired. Cleverbridge was the company i believe.

Thank you Troypoint I just cancelled renew you saved me a few bucks when I renew…

I think Express is the Cadillac of VPNs, but when I can get SS for $2.40/month it’s hard to justify…for me anyway.

Much appreciated. I just shut my auto renewal down. Subscription is for 73662727 days but meh. :face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I encountered difficulty with Surfshark recently with their tech support. After many hours spent with their Chat support, my problems continued, and I canceled my 1-year subscription, which was less than 30 days old. They do not want to refund my subscription. Terrible support.
I only tried them again at Troy’s recommendation.

There is some fineprint to what qualified for their 30 day money back guarantee that should be noted.

Not sure of any of it applies in your case.

Everyone’s mileage varies with any app that they use, as everyone has different environments with how the software operates. It’s unfortunate that some have had struggles with surfshark - I’ve used it for over a year and don’t have any issues.

I found them horrible to deal with to cancel my account. It took several emails and for me to get extremely rude before they finally canceled my account (after several back and forth emails which everyone of mine ended in “immediately cancel my account”)

I will never go back to them regardless of any sale they may offer.

I have used Express and Cyberghost (I have used many VPN) and never had any issues with auto-renewal. In fact I manually renew them when it is time to renew.

I just went through it with their bot via chat. The only confusing part is they refer to this as a cancellation of your subscription, which it really is not. Be careful of the option you choose, making sure to cancel only the recurring subscription payment, leaving your current subscription active. They do try to woo you back in with a “no-risk” auto renew, but I declined.

That’s standard for any subscription to active auto renew. You can always switch it off later. No one is obligated to renew.

You can switch off auto renewal the next day after you purchase your new plan. As long as you’ve paid, it will be available for whatever time frame you paid for.
