This is fantastic news! I’ve been battling this problem for a week now, but only on my old FS not 4K.
The option I’m testing now is if it was overheating.

I apologize for multiple responses here

I’m happy to see I’m not the only one!

My favorite response here is Amazon is working on it!

The stage I’m checking now is overheating.
I’ve deleted everything I can, used every trick in the book.

I figured this old stick was just worn out.

I go from having NO SPACE… 0 ! To having more space than even exists :joy:

Check this out :joy:

Apps you can’t delete can be disabled

Not the Amazon ones. Your only option is to use something like ES File Explorer and find the Amazon apps and clear them. This will not delete them it will simply remove all updates for those apps and return them to Factory setting.

I started getting those msgs on my FS4ks about a month ago…I even have expanded memory on all of them…I did the usual stuff by deleting the apps I rarely use, clear cache’s etc but never could restore enough memory to make FS happy. This caused me to look beyond so I bought and programed the Tivo4K…it seem to work fine although I still have trouble with the remote…then two weeks ago, I bought 2 ONNs at Walmart and programmed one of them…so far it has been bullet proof…I’ve never had a single problem with it. I am not using extended memory yet with Launch Manager, Wolf Launcher, Prime, Netflix, HBO, YouTube, Kodi with 3 addons and 5 apks (Cinema, FilmPlus, Nova,Morpheus,Ocean Streams) plus ExpressVPN and Typhoon Labs IPTV, I am still showing 1.5 g of memory remaining…Amazon has put so much of their junk on the FS4k, I am ready to dump them and go with Tivo or ONN

A post was merged into an existing topic: How to turn off screensaver on the new Firestick 4K Max

I’m using a 4k max 2nd generation. When I checked the storage, I had 6.86 still available in storage. The next thing I know the critically low storage popped up. I checked it out and Amazon had deleted some of my apps but I still had low storage.
I have had critical low storage popped up 3 times. The first 2 times I had to do a complete factory reset. It worked for awhile. I have deleted some apps I didn’t really use and that didn’t really seem to give me more storage. The storage is disappearing when it’s not in use. The 3rd time just happened and it’s telling me, I never use Surfshark and Tivimate but those are on all the time. I don’t know where or why it has this information. If someone has had this problem and would like to share the fix, I would appreciate it. Now remember I mentioned I’ve done a factory reset and the critically low storage keeps happening.

Not that I have the answer, but do you have a USB storage device attached?

Many have abandoned the Firestick due to low internal storage, issues. And Amazon has a lot of bloat stuff that you probably don’t use, Anyhow, it would help if we knew what you have or were loading on your stick. Is it a build, addons, etc? Also, do you clear your cache after use?

And one of the things that you said is kinda confusing. " I never use Surfshark and Tivimate but those are on all the time."

Im sorry about the Surfshark and Tivimate statement. I meant to say the critically low storage window says never used. I use both of them all the time.

Here’s what I have
Installed on my firestick and what critically low storage says about each:
analiti never used
DefSquid never used
Disney+ never used
Downloader. Never used
Hulu. never used
Netflix. never used
Peacock never used
Sportsfire never used
Surfshark never used
Tivimate not more than
120 days
Tubi never used
VPN privacy dot not used more than 120 days
VLC not used more than 120 days

Amazon apps say never used, not used more than 120 days and 4 of them give me MB or kb for them. As you can see as far as Amazon is concerned I haven’t really used my firestick lately. I never had this problem with any of my other Firesticks just this new 4k max 2nd generation.

I due clear my cache and force stop everyday. On some of the Amazon apps that I don’t use, I clear the cache, the data then force stop.
I hope I’ve answered your question about what apps I use.

I have a usb drive connected to use for recording on Tivimate.
I hope I gave you enough information to help me with this problem.
Thank you for your time in asking questions and for your time at reading this lengthy reply.

All the normal Amazon apps are on there. Before I left this evening I turned the firestick off. When I returned home all the app are sorted by recency.

I have a usb storage attached for recording on Tivimate.

Off topic, my Firestick has updated and Amazon have decided to rearrange my settings menu. The only app I have is Kodi, plus the nonsense that cannot be deleted. Also when Kodi crashes (more often now), it reverts to ‘allow unused apps to be automatically deleted’, which I have turned off. I hate Amazon firesticks, in my opinion, you buy the damn thing, you own it… not you buy it and they can do what they want with it. Its like buying a car, then when you are asleep, the manufacturer comes and changes the colour, because they want to… its a complete farce, do the fat cats not make enough money? Try getting rid of the people who come up with these sneaky updates!!! Rant over

I know can’t imagine why a company would try to protect it’s content and other copyrighted material from being accessed illegally lol

Did I mention copyright material? I use kodi as a media centre for music and DVD’s I have purchased… some have been purchased through Amazon

Buy a decent device and you won’t have those issues you mentioned but in general Amazon don’t what users to be installing third party apps.
I would also think Kodi is included as well because it’s not available on their App Store and lots of users don’t just use it for local legally obtained media.
Kodi gets a bad name because of third party streaming add-ons and it has been well publicised.
Which is the point I was making.

Recommended solution:

  1. Unplug Firestick
  2. Throw Firestick into the Trash
  3. Buy the ONN 4K Pro from Walmart
  4. Enjoy
