I have an Ugoos Sk1 and owned an am8 and had no issues with either. I personally wouldn’t own the latest Buzz device because it doesn’t support DV and full audio pass through of lossless audio and the same reasons with the Formuler z11 pro.

I would consider the am9 pro if it supports DV and has 8gb of RAM. If they actual do release a pro version.

There was a problem with the AM9 not loading open source apps but that bug has been resolved with firmware update v1.2. Ugoos is very good with updates to their devices when needed. Most of my Ugoos devices have been trouble free.

Could you elaborate?

Elaborate on what? Thanks.

On your preferred streaming methods

Does this mean Google will somehow externally modify my device to break already operational apps, regardless or their origin, or that I won’t be able to install unapproved apk’s after, say, a Google TV version update?

They are going to stop apps that the developer doesn’t purchase a certified android developer certificate which is around $25.

Someone will always find a way to get round this the genie is out of the bottle

I will stream on my devices until I can’t. I currently use the 4K Max firestick and 4K Pro ONN. Also, have new unopened boxes of both. Purchased when they were on sale. Guess, I should stop buying extra backup devices. :slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face:

The Real Debrid situation has taught me not to get worked up about efforts to block 3rd party app streaming. Hoping there will be a workaround. But, if not I’ll just move on to another device reccomended by our TP Insider community.

Great Day to All

100% Seeing a lot of posts about what Google may do, and what box do I need to move on from my ONN but until something actually happens I see no need to stress about it

Currently Google has cracked down on users who are forced to have a legit Gmail account. Previously we were able to create a bogus account and add up to 25 boxes to a single telephone number but Google now after a few days shuts down these Gmail accounts which then locks the device.
As to sideloading - ALL the ONN boxes I load up for friends/relatives use only 1 app obtained from Playstore which is Downloader. After that I disable Playstore as these are a few apps which Google will force into a non-operating status. This is the current workaround. After using Downloader to download a browser - delete the Playstore downloaded Downloader and install the Downloader downloaded from the browser.
This removes Playstore from the ability to oversee which apps operate within the system currently and always click dismiss on the nag screen to enable Playstore which will appear occ. as you download another app from elsewhere.
There are places where you are able to download a non-Google authorised version of Kodi, Stremio etc if you are addicted to these particular players and unlike a Firestick device, the ONN larger boxes have enough useable space as long as you keep 1.5 to 1.7g available freespace and it is adviseable to use an app which shuts down open apps / deletes cache.
What Google may likely do in the future is make it impossible to remove Playstore from the equation in future builds of the ONN devices.

My 2 cents

That hasn’t happened to me yet. :crossed_fingers: I live in Canada, have a fake Address and phone number in the USA and have 6 devices on it at this time. I have 8 google accounts and even run 3 simultaneously on my Pixel Tablet. I threw my Onn out after the first week of use and don’t have any anymore. Which I should have mentioned has nothing to do with this thread or the present situation, I simply dislike the ONN.

LOL. It’s a $30 device. My guess is nothing will change it’s functionality streaming IPTV any time soon.

Are ALL Buzz TV, Ugoos, and Formuler devices AOSP? Best device, best budget device? What are the non certified by Google or Amazon choices?

You listed the most popular non-certified devices. I personally am not too worried about any of this. I think those who want their apps to work on certified Google devices will figure out how to get it done. Apps such as Kodi, Stremio, and TiviMate are already good and I would imagine the others will figure out how to follow in their footsteps.

After reading this article from Troy, I will not be taking chances with any the cheap Chinese boxes. i wouldn’t touch them with a 10’ pole.

i have a dozen diff boxes with android 7 thru 9 os on them and several are china boxes?that have never been opened and will never update to newer android os? i think i’m covered as you can’t even purchase these boxes now as they are no longer available to buy….those older android os boxes load 3rd party apps fine and they play 4k video great

the 2 streamers i currently use(X96max) and (HK-1) are china boxes and have used them for yrs…they record video great…android 7 on the max and android 9 on the HK….neither box has ever given me a problem and both are hardwired….4hr recording of an nfl or nba game records in 4k and looks great ! i think i’m good….lol
