Gee Miki, it looks like you should’ve learned to love those ONN cheapies :upside_down_face:

Heck no. I love real streaming not a toned down feed of some show with lousy picture. Still nothing wrong with the Max. AV1, wifi 6, all positives. Once you use a good device the Onn fades into history.

The Amazon crap doesn’t bother me any. I just keep on streaming. I’m like Miki, I’m on the home screen just for a minute and then I’m on to watch it whenever I’m watching. The only time I go to the home stream is if I need to clear some caches or check my download speed other than that I never on the home screen I care less about the home screen.

I cannot speak for ONN vs the Max as far as picture quality; I can speak for the ONN vs 4k, and we couldn’t tell a difference.

Now we can tell a difference between the ONN vs our new W2 stock Android and also our new MeCool KM1.

The flexibility of adopted storage on the ONN vs what’s available for added memory on either the Max or 4k is a big difference for me.

The wife much prefers the UI on the Android TV OS vs her Fire stick experiences.

Ya some like androidTV, and hopefully that will continue with GoogleTV. There simply isn’t any comparison between the Max and the ONN imho. I honestly threw 2 I had in the trash, I didn’t want to burden anyone with them.

How would it be a toned down feed if both ONN and firestick play the same picture formats? If using Netflix Disney or what not? That dont make sense.

After reading ONN box specs and codecs, the max as more options. However if the feed is playing the same file format it wouldn’t be different. I want to get one in Canada but its not here.

The onn doesn’t have the same colour space programming and no AV1. To me when I set it up I noticed a big difference in picture quality. I wouldn’t know about netflix as I never use it. As I mentioned, good enough for a kids room. Toned down feed may have been a choice of words some wouldn’t get. All I meant was the picture wasn’t as good on the TV as my Max. That’s what I meant about being toned down.

I tried to get an Onn to test in both Niagara Falls NY and Florida. Nowhere to be found. This was last Sept in Niagara and December in Florida.
I wanted to test it out and at $19.99 who wouldn’t.

Have to wait for the new release. Should be soon and hopefully they fixed it. I think rumour has it they will be a bit more expensive.

Yes, I did read about that. I am sure I will be in the USA in the spring or summer. I will look again at that time. Maybe the Canadian dollar will get a little stronger.

That’s fair…
But also to be fair, the ONN’s price point is really closer to being a competitor to the FS Lite.

And Miki, do any of your customers need to record a sporting event?

I haven’t set up anyone that wants to record events tbh. Here the focus is getting the channels they want from “home”, and movies/series/sports. Recording isn’t much of a concern, or it hasn’t been up to this point. But ya the lite sticks suck imho and the Onn box does better than those for sure.

Can you even get an Onn right now? I think they are long long from a walmart close to you from what I’ve seen and read. New device on the horizon RIP Onn the little engine that apparently couldn’t.

I just watched an old YouTube and he was reviewing the ONN 4K vs FS, Chrome and a few others. Didn’t finish watching it, though, because none of them will ever replace my Shield Pro.

Anyway here’s the link if you care to watch it.

hello eve3eryone i would like to know when u use the debloat app and u delete stuff or icon do i have to do a system restore to get everything back?

System restore will put everything back that originally came with it. Any app you added will need to be re-installed.

Re-installing isn’t that big of a deal, but if you use Tivimate I would strongly suggest you do make a backup of that app. That way you can restore all your playlists, groups, and favorites with one click.

If you’re referring to the TDUK debloat tool box puting a check in a box activates that function, if you want everything enabled, you can put a checkmark in the box on the top right, reversing this will reverse the changes you made. No need to completely reset to factory, unless of course you want to for other reasons.

Yeah, the older ones are gone. But they still work well and seem to still be supported.

But the Fire devices go through similar cycles of discontinue/issue new. And, as of yet, updates are not primarily for the purpose of limiting the manner in which one can utilize the device, unlike the Fire TV family.
