I appreciated the youtube you posted. Thats what I followed on my original and second ONN devices. My assumption is that there are still glitches to work out on these devices. The first ONN/Walmart device I purchased accepted external storage when I set it up using an OTG Cable but I could never get the ethernet connected using a SMAYS USB OTG Cable hub. I have used the SMAYS on a Firestick so I know it functions correctly.
On the second Walmart ONN I recently purchased I can’t get it to recognize external storage using an OTG cable that I know is functional and I can’t get it to run by ethernet using the SMAYS.
I’ve gone through the settings multiple times and I can’t find anything that needs to be turned on or off.
Any Advice Is Appreciated

Use SMB network storage instead. If you can set that up for yourself.

I have the same issue with the external storage using the other cables. I have 3 new 4k Onn boxes and none of the units see the thumb drives. I’ve tried multiple cables, scan disk, pny, Kingston, nothing works. I’ve reformatted using Rufus and followed all the steps in Troy’s videos. Now mind you I have been using firesticks and cubes for over 6 years and been using external drives thru Tivimate on all of them with no issues on setups or performance (unless flash drive dies). But these Onn boxes will not accept an external drive for whatever reason. It should be cut and dry as the fire sticks but so far anything but. Suggestions would be much appreciated.

Sorry, spell checker overwrote OTG cables as “other”. Just so it makes sense.
