Yes as long as its not run as a vpn service. Many ad-blockers run as a vpn service while actually not being a vpn how ever this one as stated does not.

It seems to work on my end with SS active.

I ran with and without VPN, with and without the built-in VPN ad-blocker. It seemed to work fine all ways. I canāt tell which (or both) was blocking the ads each time, but it was effective.

I live in Texas, one of 7 states that require registration with the State to visit a porn site on the web. Thus, porn sites left /blockTexas. I tested this app using Silk Browser, Nvidia Shield and Nord VPN set to Dallas. This app allowed access which I then quickly exited. SUCCESS !!!
Apparently, Apps that have Adult sections are not affected by this law.
Fortunately it does not appear Texas teens know about VPNs or apps with Adult sections and would Never Ever click yes on the box that asks if you are 18 years old!

If you want to do this on a Firestick, you can just manually set a DNS.
I had to use one when T-Mobile Home Internet started blocking one of my IPTV services ports.
The free Next DNS account page will give you the DNS server IP, or use google/cloudflare/etc.

Big Dave you sure you exited the porn lol? I didnāt know 7 states make you register that is nuts! I donāt watch porn (anymore lol) but thought it was a freedom we all had here in USA.

Following is the first few paragraphs of what you see when trying to access porn sites in Texas. Iām 76 y/o and donāt care about porn, but I hate my freedoms being taken.
As you may know, your elected officials in Texas are requiring us to verify your age before allowing you access to our website.
Not only does this impinge on the rights of adults to access protected speech, it fails strict scrutiny by employing the least effective and yet also most restrictive means of accomplishing Texasās stated purpose of allegedly protecting minors.
While safety and compliance are at the forefront of our mission, providing identification every time you want to visit an adult platform is not an effective solution for protecting users online, and in fact, will put minors and your privacy at risk.
Attempting to mandate age verification without any means to enforce at scale gives platforms the choice to comply or not, leaving hundreds of thousands of websites open and accessible.m

Another practical use for everyone in Texas that has a VPN

THREE questions ā¦
1.) My ISP here in Texas is āXfinity (Comcast).ā About one year ago I got a much need Gateway (router/modem combo) upgrade. However, within days of this, I discovered they had TAKEN AWAY access to the Router controls (both via their own Xfinity App AND via the normal website portal ā¦ i e., my Username and Password no longer worked)!!
This meant, not only could I no longer MANUALLY choose my 5 GHz/2.4 GHz network CHANNELS/BANDWIDTH (to help avoid congestion in my many apartment bldg. neighbors) ā¦ but I could not change my DNS Settings (from Xfinityās own ādefaultā ones, to superior Cloudflare, Google, etc. ones). Even before they cut me off from my Router Setting, I believe I had read that they were an ISP that did NOT allow its customers the ability to choose other DNS servers!
*So, my question is ā¦ under these conditions, would I be able to use TDUKās app to use its āad-blocking DNS filtering?ā How would I do it? And would Xfinity know that I was no longer using their own DNS servers?
2.) Per an old TDUK video, I did modify my SILK browserās āPrivacy and Securityā settings (on my FireStick devices) to use Adguardās āsecure DNSā website address (http://dns.adguard-dns.com/dns-query).
*This seems to be helpful, but it obviously only affects my BROWSERāS usage (and what is the difference between this and Xfinity not allowing me to use other DNS servers on my Gateway/Router)? They have not contacted me to say this is forbidden, so I obviously donāt understand the difference!
3.) If TDUKās new app would STILL WORK under my particular conditions ā¦ would I need to turn OFF my āSurfsharkā VPNās optional āCleanWebā proprietary feature (to block ads, malware, virus, etc)?
In other words, would they CONFLICT with each other in any way?
TIA for any responses! TDUK?

Yes you can use the app, better yet return xfinitys sptware modem/router and get your own and then you can do as you please

Ha! I probably would, BUT I am dirt poor and am currently on their āInternet Essentialsā service (qualified due to low income). As such (spy device, or not), I get it for FREE ā¦ and to replace it, Iād have to buy BOTH a āmodemā and a ārouter,ā which I have no spare cash for.
Actually, I DO have a āTP-LINK AC1900, Archer C9ā Dual Band Router that I bought during Amazonās Black Friday sales two or three years ago (it had very good reviews for its reasonable retail price, back then).
However, Iāve never attempted to try to ābridge modeā it to the Xfinity Gateway, for fear Iād screw something up (I didnāt even know that was a āthingā until about a year ago)! And if I ran into trouble, you can bet Xfinity would charge me money, I donāt have, to straighten it out!
Additionally, I am 67, have only one good eye (detached retina), and no computer (though maybe itās possible to do it with only my Android smartphone?).
Maybe Iāll revisit it, if the benefit is worth it. Do you have any excellent video that I could check out?
And with a ābridgedā router, would that allow me access to those router settings again?
And since theyāve cut me off from THEIR Gateway/Router settings, is this still even an option?
Sorry for my wordiness!

Lets simplifyā¦Since you have the router for free and at a low cost for internetā¦donāt rock the boat ā¦yes TDUkās app will still work on non-embeded ads and is your cheapest option.
editā¦you can also try this>>> Daedalus | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository

Thanks kindly for your input! Good to know about TDUKās app working despite my Xfinity lockdown (although I still donāt really understand the minutia).
I took a quick look at your attachment and most is likely to be over my head, but when I have more time Iāll see what I can glean from it.
Thanks, again!

Live IPTV is live streaming of channels with a little delay - so adverts on that live channel will still be shown.
TV series VODs should be advert free but this is not live.
Same should be true for any streaming app that has a āLiveā channel option - that is streaming in real time because that stream will be broadcasting adverts
@TechDoctorUK looks like Miki has proved that this might be a solution for IPTV services that has buffering issues

Not sure why youāre telling me this. Iāve always clearly stated that live IPTV has ads as theyāre baked into the stream. But glad you understand how it works. Have a wonderful day.

Itās all good. At least you are reading them and finding something worth contributing your knowledge to or adding information you have. Thatās what this forum is all about. Have a wonderful day.
Looks very interestingā¦ I run AdGuard and so my DNS is set on my router. Blocks ads on all devices at home. I assume this isnāt doing anything different, only it runs on the one device rather than all devices?

If you set DNS servers on your rouer, that will work fine, however as soon as you activate a VPN on a device, the vpn will override your routers DNS servers and force your device to use thereās.
Using encrypted DNS on a device means that even if I activate a VPN, my device will always use the DNS servers that I set.
