I think a recent update has geo-locked them now.
I believe setting them up now out of their specified region requires a workaround….VPN based router….
Connect device to a device with a VPN via hotspot method

That has always been the method and it works just fine. I’ve detailed setting up a hotspot on a PC a number of times. Of course a phone is easier but some VPN’s won’t provide a VPN hotspot, like SurfShark. The one I have.

I’m glad you got it going. I’ve never had a problem with mine at all and if you can, once again, I would recommend using a USA VPN as the menu will change and you will get all sorts of music, tv and shows that you otherwise won’t. It’s worth checking out. It will toggle the menu back and forth if you leave the USA. Sort of odd.

Has anyone been able to un-brick the Onn 4K after trying to set it up without being in the US or Puerto Rico

Get Surfshark VPN and it will allow you to choose different countries and cities.
get Surfshark here: (https://surfshark.club/friend/vL7Rjxyx)

read this tread - Wizzard has done it and video in link shows how to with a windows computer

Yes you can do it. Here is the link again. I will point out that SS doesn’t allow for mobile VPN hotspots so using a PC was their recommendation. Other VPN’s may, I don’t know. I’ve not seen any reported.
