Ok, so now I’ve done it. I bought a Shield Pro during the whole pre-Black Friday sale. But I currently am still using my 2nd Gen Cube as my main device. So I am using the Shield to play around with various things so that I can get it set up to my personal liking. Anyhow, I figured that it was time to try out the Projectivity Launcher. I am following Troy tutorial where he says “You will now see your Current Launcher set to Projectivy Launcher.” I got a black screen (black screen of death?). The only thing I see is the flashing green dot. Now I know that you are going to tell me to hit the Home button but that doesn’t work. And next you will say to hit the Menu, aka hamburger, right?
Well this is where it gets interesting. I had been playing with the button mapper app and programmed the menu button to toggle the enhance operation, d’oh! So now I can enhance that black screen! What a complete dummy! I’ll blame it on the freezing weather. Anyhow, is there a way to get out of this mess. Or is there a way to nuke the Shield if that is what I need to do?

I would tell you about the Nvidea app…but I think @Powerfader is about too…
Ok, you can try this. Download the Nvidia Remote app on your phone or tablet. This will give you access to the Shield settings. NVIDIA SHIELD TV - Apps on Google Play Now you should be able to reboot your device.
If that doesn’t fix it. Then download the Launcher Manager app. It can be found in the TP Toolbox. Make sure you download the one for the Nvidia Shield. TROYPOINT Toolbox
Then you can disable Custom Launcher.
If that doesn’t work. You can try clicking the back button. You can also try and do a double click on the Home button to bring up your recents menu and click on an app Projectivy Launcher app that should appear.
Then remap your Home button back to Home.

Thank you, Powerfader for the instructions. I do appreciate it very much!
So our power has been up and down (off) making it difficult to do anything. But after I posted my question I said to myself “I wonder if the voice commands work?” Sure enough I was able to get into Settings. So the first thing I did was a reboot, then go into Apps and deleted the Launcher app.
All is well, right? Nope, the native launcher is not there so still the black screen. I am able to open stuff, like Kodi, Analiti, the VPN, etc. from Settings. For the life of me, I can’t recall how to map/remap my Settings/menu button (aka Hamburger button) to open Settings. In the Button Mapper app the Menu button is locked out. Odd, but at some point I or some demon changed that button to change the AI enhance settings.
So I guess, right now, is to get the native opening screen/launcher back.

With most any app to operate correctly it generally comes back to permissions, permissions… well you get it. Projectivy launcher as well. Many permissions are within the app itsself and you must enable projectivy in the accessibility section of android settings. Also if your device has a homescreen picker, it must be selected there as well.
edit…also within projectivy, you can check override current launcher

Settings>Remotes & accessories>Customize Menu button.
Also try this if you can get into downloader
https://www.techdoctoruk.com/sdm_downloads/google-tv-launcher-1-0-331643392/
On the shield you want to go into apps>system apps>and look for Android TV Home
It may have been disabled and you should be able to enable it by clicking on it and then enable.
Download the Launcher Manager app and then you can enable/disable all custom launchers. You can find it in the TP Toolbox.
“So the first thing I did was a reboot, then go into Apps and deleted the Launcher app.”
This would be fine if before you deleted your Launcher app. You first disabled the custom launcher. As it is it looks like you deleted the only homepage your device knows about. So you need to disable the current home page launcher and then you should be back to your stock launcher page. Then you can delete the Launcher Manager, Projectivy Launcher or any other app you desire, and you will still have your stock launcher enabled.
Also, REMAP your Home button that you changed back to HOME! Choose another button to remap for whatever it is you wanted it to do.

This was the key! I went into Permissions and found a setting that re-enabled the native home screen. For Pete’s sake! I can’t recall what that setting was but it seemed pretty evident that it needed to be turned on. And that worked.
THANK YOU, TXRon!
By Joe, that’s where that setting is for the Settings button. I’m not certain why I changed that. I’m a bonehead!
THANK YOU, Miki!
Powerfader, thank you for all your help. It really is good to learn something new everyday. And you three guys are great teachers and your wisdom is an incredibly great asset to this site.
You can delete any button you mapped by following this instruction. When you delete the button it will revert back to the original status.

A launcher manager just like that or similar is pre-installed on some boxes

Yes, with Projectivy launcher I believe they coded one in. I know they use the Accessibility category in Shield settings.
When I boot Projectivy Launcher up a pop message will appear on the bottom screen. It states to enable accessibility.
I just like having the launcher manager because I have 3 different custom launchers and feel more secure with have more control. I did have 4 launchers at one time. Then decided to uninstall Wolf. I also, made certain I have Launcher Manager prominently displayed in each of my custom launchers.
Probably should uninstall all those launches and just stick with one. I did set my SCL3 as my default launcher home page, but it too has a built in setting to make it default without the Launcher Manager.
I remapped a button to launch SCL3 (not my Home Button…lol) to boot up SCL3.

Still can’t find a way to remap the home key on my iPazport keyboard so it points to my preferred launcher (Wolf) or the app App Opener which opens my Wolf menu that I have customized over the years. Has anyone been able to do this on a mini keyboard?

@Shayde Yes, go to the row, move left until you get to the gear icon and select it, in the menu that opens turn on “Grid” and turn off “Sliding row” then adjust the “cards per row” and “Size” to get the grid the way you want it.

I didn’t ask a question. You must’ve mistaken my name for someone else.
EDIT: just looked and you were replying to a comment of mine from the year 2022!
