I have changed the server location. I hope it helps.

I’m very frustrated with Surfshark/Tivimate/Streaming/Android TV. More often than not, I have to force stop both Tivimate and Surfshark and restart them or I get no connection on the stream. I even have to go so far sometimes as to reboot the router as Surfshark with not connect and show me the IP address of the connection. I had none of these issues with Nord VPN. I sent to diagnostic report to support weeks ago with zero response. Very sorry I opted for a 2 year subscription.

Proton, it’s free. I hate Surfshark. I have more than a year left on it but It didn’t work for Turkish TV for me. I use Proton now and it’s perfect.

I had an issue where Surfshark would not play one of my favorite streams on Tivimate. All my other streams worked fine. Had to turn off surfshark to make the stream work. Surfshark service was excellent. They suggested several solutions. Switched back to NordVPN

Yes, I have been having these problems too. I find that if I just Pause Surfshark for 5 minutes, the page will most then often load right away. When that doesn’t work I open the Malwarebytes extension on my browser and turn off ad-tracker for that webpage and that gets the job done.

Yes, SurfShark blocks many sites I try to use often, but it always works well when I stream media on my FireStick. I use Proton’s free VPN when SurfShark blocks sites that it really shouldn’t. I disabled Clean Web thinking that might help, but that doesn’t make a difference. The first thing I do when I have a problem is to disable SurfShark.

I’ve had IPVanish for quite a few years and switched to SurfShark a few months ago. IPVanish was ok, but SurfShark is a little faster. The price for each of them are pretty close.

Here is my experience with surfshark. 3 months ago expressvpn was having issues with Amazon Prime video not playing on fire TVs or fire devices. They gave me three free months of expressvpn. During this time I purchased surfshark just to give it a trial run. They had the same issue Amazon Prime video not playing while connected to the VPN. Bypasser on surfshark did work. Split tunneling on expressvpn did not. It still recognized that I had a VPN connected. Fast forward 3 months later. I contacted surfshark and asked if they had resolved the issue with Prime video not playing with their VPN connected. They assured me that it did work and I would not have to use Bypasser any longer. I made the switch to surfshark. It was a disaster. Not only did Amazon Prime video not Play. My Sonos Wireless sound system wouldn’t work. My cameras in my house wouldn’t work. Could not send or receive emails on my computer with surfshark. I contacted them and spent about 6 hours trying to resolve just the Amazon Prime video issue. Then another 2 hours trying to figure out the email issue they wanted me to make changes to DNS of my email. I told them that I didn’t want to make any changes that I was afraid it would cause more issues. I asked for a refund they denied it because I tried their service 3 months earlier. They won’t refund your money unless you’ve gone 6 months without trying their service. Back and forth with them supervisors involved they refused to refund my money. I pointed out that there was 100% money back guarantee and it did not mention that you had to wait 6 months before trying again to get a refund. In the end I contacted my credit card company. They reversed the charges. Then three or four days later I noticed that surfshark refunded my money. I went back to expressvpn which I still had two days left and renewed for 2 years plus 4 months I believe for $139.00. Everything I’ve learned about streaming has been from Troy over the last 5 years. Everything he says is spot on, this is the only instance where it went horribly wrong. Surfshark was never able to help me resolve any of the issues and chatting with someone for over 8 hours can become frustrating and stressful, especially when they’re located in a different country. I will never leave expressvpn again. And as promised they did resolve the issue with Amazon Prime video not playing on the Fire TV or fire devices. It’s all fixed now and you don’t have to use split tunneling.

Never gonna find a perfect VPN. I also switched to surfshark a couple years ago. My biggest problem was poor download speed with ipvanish and surfshark much faster for me. Surfshark used to work great with prime and netflix but now hit and miss. My solution to that was cancelling my netflix account, no need for it when I have real-debrid. Surfshark works better for me than ipvanish.

I have had nothing but a great experience with Proton VPN. No killswitch on streamers but I use the Safety dot. I have 150MBs down from my ISP I sign up for 2 yrs at a go with their full package, including e:mail, cloud storage, password vault, vpn and so on. No regrets here.

I bought Shark and instantly I couldn’t get into one of my apps. I fought that for a week and never beat it. I searched and researched, changed every setting and combination and the best answer I could find was these apps sign up to support one VPN service and block the rest. Don’t know if that’s true, but it’s the only answer I could find. There were no other answers that I hadn’t tried already. I went back to my old VPN and I can get into that app just fine.

I just realized that I use Malwarebytes Browser Guard, which has had some recent upgrades. Do you think that could be corrupting my Surfshark performance?

What was the app that you couldn’t get into? No, this is not normal. Some apps don’t play nice with all VPNs and that’s probably the case for you.

One thing to add is that I need to disable SurfShark to successfully print something on my home network., I don’t see an option to enable LAN on my Linux OS.

You should reach out to Surfshark support on that. I’ve questioned them about this in the past and they say that allowing LAN traffic is default in their apps.

There are various apps. However, the biggest surprise is the Amazon app. I use it quite a bit and have never had a problem, but now I frequently have to turn Surfshark off.

Over the past month, some users have reported issues with Monitor Dot not loading properly. After investigating, it seems as if Surfshark blocks access to my website (MonitorDot.com) when connected to nearly half of their U.S. VPN server locations.

Here’s what I found:

  • When connected to Surfshark’s ā€œNew Yorkā€ server, the Monitor Dot app times out when trying to reach my site.
  • The same happens when even if you try to simply visit the site directly using a browser like Silk.
  • However, when switching to a different server — such as ā€œMiamiā€ — everything works normally.

This causes several issues for users:

  • Trying to download the app via the Troypoint Toolbox will fail when the site is blocked.
  • The app performs periodic new version checks, which display an error if blocked.
  • On startup, Monitor Dot displays a lightweight home screen (a page hosted on my site) that I use for updates and messages to users — but when the site is blocked, that screen fails to load, so I can’t even notify users of the issue.

I contacted Surfshark support and they had me go through all the standard troubleshooting steps (protocol changes, DNS tweaks, etc.) with no success. Eventually, I asked the support agent to test it themselves — and they confirmed they could not access the site either when using the New York server.

Unfortunately, even after verifying the problem, Surfshark told me there is no ETA for a fix and no guarantee of follow-up.

Even if switching to another VPN location resolves the issue, the average user has no way of knowing this — to them, the app simply doesn’t work.

Hopefully, with a bit more visibility and more users reporting the problem, this can be resolved on Surfshark’s end sooner rather than later.

6/17/25 UPDATE:
Please try this work-around for this issue…

Depending on the version of Surfshark you have, one of these settings might help with this issue:

  1. Use the ā€œBypass VPNā€ setting and add the ā€œMonitor Dotā€ app to the list so that the app will bypass the VPN and hopefully can then connect to my website successfully.

  2. Use the ā€œBypass Listā€ setting to add my website ā€œMonitorDot.comā€ to the ā€œBypassā€ list, so the VPN won’t block the app from connecting to my website anymore.

So, please try the setting that your version of surfshark supports and reply to this post to let me know if it fixes the issue.

I turn it off once on site reconnect works fine after that where talking about seconds. Also trust bank site to to extinct. Discover card was first to do this I contacted department and it never happened again. Pretty sure once they see or have devices Mac address you shouldn’t run into it anymore
