If you have SS running with ad blocking turned on the ad blocking is a seperate module from the VPN and can be turned off whenever you want and still have the VPN running. I never use the ad blocking as it does interfere with connecting to some sites. You can’t turn off the VPN and just have the ad blocking running by itself, especially if you have the Kill switch enabled.
I do not have the ad blocking module within SS enabled. I use Brave on my desktop and on my iPhone and iPad.
Also, the connectivity lag or the inability to connect at all is also happening on my Amazon Fire stick.
As I mentioned in my OP, I believe they have overwhelmed server(s).

some servers work better than others maybe because of server load? i can barely get a page to open using kansas city but blazing fast using new york server

Same issue on every VPN. As soon as I notice buffering or lag I look at the load on the server I’m connected to, and if it’s over 65% then I switch servers.

I’m tired of SurfShark buffering. IP vanish was never this bad for me. Also; the surf shark app is buggy and the connection errors are crazy. The “fastest server” connection is bogus. I’m about to switch back even though I’m paid up 2 years.
Use what works best for you. I’m the opposite as IPV was very slow for me and nothing but problems. Their wireguard protocol wouldn’t even work on my ISP. Once I switched to Surfshark no buffering anymore.

I’m with you. IPvanish terrible for me as well. Can’t believe we need separate app for kill switch on ipvanish for Firestick. Surfshark way faster and I like the ad blocking feature as well. Once v3.5.0 was released for Fire TV/Android TV I got a 50% download speed increase! They’re always making their apps better.

There are many that don’t have the patience for correction to happen. Whether it’s hardware needing time to expand load capacity or software updates that may have broken thing while fixing other things - time is always needed from any vendor to troubleshoot, test, and correct the problem.
Shark did a great job of righting the ship when it rocky for some months last year.
I’m reading all of this. I have IPVanish and am getting some buffering from my current service. I’m looking at SurfShark … does SS have a plan where I can sign up for 1 - 2 months to try it vs IPVanish or is it the 26 mo. special or nothing?
Surfshark offers a 30 day money back guarantee. You should know within 30 days whether it works for you or not.

LOL! who are the Office Guys? So many post lately about VPN’s causing all kinds of issues. Want my Advice? I’ll give it but don’t take it because it is NOT popular here. Throw your VPN into the Garbage Bin - There you go

If you want to test whether your VPN is slowing you down that much, try a trusted and known safe “Free” VPN to see if your system will have better speeds. That free vpn is ProtonVPN. Now the server options are limited as well as the countries, but as a test to see if you can get better speeds with an active VPN it’s a great test option.

I suggest maybe use an app. that also does not have a VPN for you to purchase perhaps that you might be receiving some what of a false reading.
I wouldn’t use a generic VP such as SS and I would go with Surfshark or Nord.
SSis a brand name…did you mis-type?

Hi Troy, I saw your discount for Surfshark and purchased the 2 yr plan. Working really
well and wanted to thank you for the excellent deal. Cheers The Jet:slightly_smiling_face:

Does surfshark have auto renew? If so remember to disable as it will charge you the normal rate once your 2 yr is up.
I have recently been concerned with the slow speeds I am getting when using Surfshark VPN and decided to contact them expressing my concerns. On all my devices (Formuler Z11 Pro Max, Nvidia Shield and One 4k Stick) I am getting around 400+ Mbps Down from my Wifi or Gigabit Ethernet connections but when Using VPN those speeds are reduced to around 40-90 Mbps which is a terrible reduction. After many emails etc with Surfshark and trying all their possible solutions it is their opinion that ALL my CPU’s apparently (specifically this used by Android type devices) cannot handle the encryption to give faster speeds when using VPN? They have now sent me the following…
We can understand that having a slow connection speed can be frustrating, unfortunately, all of the possible troubleshooting steps were exhausted.
Have a delightful day, and if you have any further questions, let me know!
So please be aware that Surfshark no longer thinks Android devices entirely suitable for its product…
