Yeah I understand Watchlist is probably the way to go. I’ve never used Progress, Next Episode, or Calendar and prefer to use Collection. I only watch 3-4 shows at any given time so I just go into Collection, current season, and see the latest unwatched episode. I think there are several ways to get the same results

I do the same, have all shows under collection, I believe watchlist and collection are same thing. When a season is over I use to delete that show from collection, when in a year that show came back on for another season I would add it again to collection, however doing this would be consider 2 collection for same show, by doing this for other shows as well I quickly used up my 100 collection limit, something to keep in mine when adding shows to your collection leave them there and don’t delete any. Also handy to use on your phone or tablet is trakt calendar. On your phone open up trakt.tv go to dashboard and find calendar once you have it make a short cut . This will show upcoming shows.

Collection is different to Watchlist.
Watchlist triggers new season to appear and no need to delete and re-add new seasons. It works in conjunction with in progress, next episode and calendar if the VOD app has those features.
The “100 show” limit can be bypassed… when you search for a show, simply add the first episode as “watched” and the show will still be added to your list.
I just tested - still working.
