Quick question Mr. TP. In the instructions for network diagnostics I see instructions to hold down the enter button and pause play, but the pic shows the return/back button and the FF/advance button being held.

I remember seeing a Firestick “trick”.
It involved using the remote to see all your loaded apk’s by just clicking on one button.
Without having to scroll across to the black 4 box app all the way to the right . Just before the blue settings app. But then you have to open the whole screen on your tv to see all your apps.
I’m talking about a setting that allows you to see
Either your top six. Or All your apps. On the side of the screen of the tv.
But I can’t find the instruction on how to set it up.
Our friend from the UK has a video.
But I couldn’t make it work from his.
And I just saw it posted today
Maybe Troypoint has a video fix??

I opened all the 5 tricks, And developer tools.
But I don’t see any option to set up “apps & channels into a single push of a button on the Firestick HOME screen .
Even the UK Video only shows how to turn your iPhone into a remote with all your Firestick apps,
That’s not of interest to me.
But I saw a screenshot of the Amazon remote being used to show all your apps and channels on a a side screen. So you don’t have to chase all over the Home Screen just to open a particular app.

Is it possible to recreate this function on the Firestick 4K max?

Is that the actual physical remote being used or is this an app installed on say a phone, that is configured to display the apps in it’s main window. Looks like it can be positioned just about anywhere and I don’t personally know of any key combinations that will do this using the Amazon supplied remote that comes with the Max. If you can provide a link to the site displaying these pics it would make researching easier. Thanks.

Thanks for commenting.
If I state who posted the video yesterday.
I would be violating Troypoint’s rules.
I hinted it’s from the UK . You’ll have to track it down yourself. Start with Youtube.
If and when you see the video.
You can decide for yourself whether that’s a phone, or the firestick.
Maybe Troypoint will respond himself.
It can be done with a phone.
But I’m not interested in using my phone as a remote.
But I tried to explain clearly, why it would be nice to see all my apps. Loaded on a single page that I could click on individually. There are a lot of useful things you can adjust on the firestick if you have the interest or the patience.

I understand what you are saying and if you are concerned about violating Troy’s site rules then just PM me. I don’t do you tube. You are talking to the “mod” for the insider and I have literally programmed hundreds of firesticks. Now long pressing the home button should bring up a list on the right, that you can then choose “apps” and a page will open where everything is shown. I suspect the screen shot is that of an app that when you open it, it projects a screen onto your Firestick. I am unaware of any app that you can install onto your Stick that displays a split screen or floating screen, with all the apps. I haven’t used a stick in a year or so, but until the new OS for sticks arrives then FireOS 8 isn’t all that much different than previous FireOS’s. If you found this vid on you tube then you should be able to get the information from the poster.

I’ll give you another hint.
He’s the most popular streaming tekkie in the UK.
I’ve been following his tios since Terrarium shut down.
Initials T—-D——-UK.
Just posted yesterday.
There are several Facebook groups devoted to the Firestick.
But they wouldn’t know what we’re talking about around here.
It’s either very simple to do.
Or it’s impossible.
Maybe???

I’m trying your home button press.
But on my tv. It just opens to a giant time display.
And 5 boxes (profiles,ambient,sleep,mirroring,and settings.
I’ve tried a half dozen buttons combo’s last night.
Nothing close to it comes up.
If you can ask Troypoint yourself.
Maybe he’ll tell you.
I knew when I started posting my inquiry.
It would probably be a futile exercise.
I’ve been playing with both the android boxes and fire sticks for 7 years.
And I’ve concluded that I know what I know.
And there are a hell of a lot of guys who know plenty more than me.
So. In this particular issue I just decided to gamble.

I have a direct line to the Doc. I could ask him directly. He is also a member here that you could PM if you like. As I mentioned I am unaware of any apps that can be installed on any FireOS that will provide the type of display you are looking for. Yes there are many remote control apps that can be installed on your phone to control the Stick and may have the option for a display, as you provided a screenshot for. The home button route I gave is about the shortest route I know of, to activate a window showing apps, on the sticks.

Ok.
Then go to YouTube and it will be the first or second video he posted.
I get an alert on my iPad every single time he posts something new.
And he was all excited about sharing this discovery last night

No harm in gambling. I was doing some research to see if I could find someone who has actually done what you want, but didn’t have any luck. As I mentioned I am unaware of any way of doing this natively on the stick with a single button press, using the supplied Amazon remote. I don’t do you tube, and sounds to me like you didn’t have any luck, with all your knowledge, so doubt I would have any better luck.

How do you PM on this site.?

So it’s exactly as I suspected. This is an update to the old Amazon Fire TV remote app that now provides this function with a single click on the app once it is installed and paired to your stick.

What is an “old” fire tv remote?
Is that something you get if you buy the fire TV CUBE.
I Just have 4 fire sticks dating back to the first one released, thru the 4Kmax 2nd Gen

If you go to AFTVnews there is a page there explaining the differences in remotes, including their release dates. I was referring to the “old” remote app.

I remember that the WOLF LOADER appeared to function somewhat similar to what tk is displaying.
But I didn’t like the way it functioned.
So it can be replicated somewhat.
I just was looking for an easy way to see all my apps.
Instead of having to scroll back and forth or up and down to find an app I don’t frequently use.
The Firestick home page only offers me 6 primary apps before I have to click the box in front of the blue settings box to see them all and wait till it fully loads.
If it can’t be done “yet”.
So be it
