Is there someone out there, you know who you are, that can address EPG’s? It seems like there are a million of them. I currently use Apollogroup.tv with Tivimate. I just use them for live TV and am very happy with both services. I especially like being able to view local networks from different cities around the US, as well as PPV and premium channels. Apollo a does recommend a EPG to use with Tivimate, and it does an adequate job. But there still are many channels the show “no information”. I know there are many free and pay EPG’s out there, as well as ways the make your own EPG’s. Which seems extremely involved and time consuming. Is there someone out there that can dive in and explain the EPG world? Are there some out there that are far better than others? Ideally, it would be great of there was one that addressed all aspects. Does it exist? Any discussion or recommendations would be great! I look forward to hearing from all of you.

I haven’t taken the dive into this, and I don’t plan to. However, I find it easiest to just use the provider supplied EPG because they can add more channels to the playlist at any time. I suspect that when you create a custom EPG you have to map the channels. Which means when a new channel is added to the lineup, you have to manually update your EPG. I think it’s much easier to just reach out to your IPTV provider and tell them if you are having an issue with the EPG for certain channels. A good provider will update it in no time and will not brush it off or ignore you.

With TiVimate I not only use the provider EPG but also the free ones. I simply add them to the playlist add them to EPG sources and then enable them in any of the playlists I want. I usually have about 4 to 5 EPGs enabled in any of my playlists.

Miki, thanks for your input. Let me try to understand, you listed 4 different EPG’s. Are you not located in the US? You listed the first 2, then mentioned the US and UK. What do you use the first 2 for? Do you have multiple EPG’s assigned to the same Playlist?

Exactly read my post above this one. This way when searching for an EPG to assigne to a channel your search results will display options from the EPGs you have enabled on that playlist. Doesn’t mean it will work for every channel. @Jayhawks659 s method is by far the best. I just found it a challenge to get in touch with Amber to add channels to the their EPG as there are literally dozens of missing EPGs or there were.

I have more than one IPTV service. So when one service is having a problem with one or two EPG’s, I just select the “Assign EPG” option and select a different one from one of my other providers. For me this resolve 99% of the missing ones.

@richlibel65 do you go through every available epg until you find one that works with that channel? Sometimes I’ll open up the “assign epg” option and there might be approximately 10 choices to choose from.
I played around with this the other day and added a couple free EPG sources. I noticed that a few of my channels that had “no information” before automatically updated even though I kept my original EPG as primary. The only ones that didn’t update were really obscure channels that might actually be sourced from other streaming only platforms, and maybe the EPG for those sources are not obtainable. The only ones that I manually assigned an EPG to were my local channels.

@Joela63 It may display 2 or 3 EPG’S, but sometimes I get more than that. Just keep trying until you get one that takes. Also, if you only get 1 or 2 just select one and if it gives you a positive result you’re good to go. If you don’t get any that work use the Search and see what you get. Just make sure when it populates that the description matches what it says. Example-if the result is showing “Friends” but the feed is broadcasting “Big Bang Theory” then you may have a West coast feed vs and East Coast feed. Not that you can’t use it, you can under Channe Options adjust the EPG Time Offset.
I used the 3 day trial and it works great for Strong 8K. I paid for the annual which is just under 8 bucks. Fills out 99.9% of the No Information spots on my guide. Will see how it goes…

Hi! I too have strong 8K and new to all this with Tivimate did any of the epg’s on the website you attached give information for Prime Channels? I’m still working on the US information but all my epg’s I’m using doesn’t give the information
It will tell you on the channel what the channel is but no info as what is playing?
Thx
Worked well with MEGA. The product they give you is a GZ XML file. This did map to give me EPG data for many of my mega channels for $7 a year.

I have Amber’s Strong 8K and am currently doing the Myepg.top Free 3 day trial. I’ve installed one of the 2 EPG’s provided and it has significantly improved the EPG data

Use the Google TV app. Not sure if you can get it for an iPhone, but on my Android it’s a built-in. You can connect to any Onn/GoogleTV boxes in the area. Go to the site on your phone, copy, go to GTV app, and paste. Done.
Looking to add MY EPG or something similar.
Is it possible and what would be the best choice of provider of a guide for Strong8K.
Thanks
