Could you provide details of what happened? What do you mean blocking people? They just turn their service off to random, innocent people and keep their money? Surfshark isnā€™t a scam, this doesnā€™t sound right.

SurfShark may not be my favourite VPN but they are in no way a scam. Unless thereā€™s proof of claims like this itā€™s unfair to make them.

At the end of the day surely the thing to take away here is check all your monthly/annually paid services, be it your VPN, ISP, cable/satellite provider, phone, insurance, whatever. They can ALL be made cheaper if you make the effort. Businesses donā€™t want to lose customers so make them want to make you stay. Never auto renew anything. I donā€™t use Surfshark but Iā€™m struggling to see why they are being made out to be any more or less ā€œevilā€ than any other company.

Thanks for the heads up on auto-renewal, I just turned it off via thier chat link. Using Rakuten cash-back I was able to get a Surfshark 27 month starter subscription for just $9 (85% cash back) and its been working great on my Firestick & PCs. I already have NordVPN and ProtonVPN but niether one has a killswitch option in thier app for Firestick, so based on Troypoints review I deceided to try Surfshark. I have absolutely no buffering issues using 4KliveIPTV or while using Fen Light & Umbrella in Kodi.

I always use a prepaid card for these types of purchases.
Real Debrid is the only purchase I make using my bank directly. And I stay away from Paypal.

Im using Nord, you can turn it off in settings for auto renew i do this as soon a purchase a 2 or 3 yearā€™s sub and customers service is excellent with them also twitter or x as its known now there respond to you fast in there, not had any issues in 7 years.

I also use Nord and found out the hard way about auto renewal, they charged me for another year at the premium price, my bad as I should have seen this in my account, I have turned this off now. Thinking of switching to Surfshark before the auto renewal charged me for another year, will wait now. On a good note, now Nord have increased the amount of devise allowed from 6 to 10, nice

Continuing the discussion from Beware Surfshark renewal:

I purchased surfshark through Troypoints affiliate link and did not get the two extra months. I supplied surfshark with a screenshot of the pay pal purchase showing the two extra months. They do not admit they have a deal with Troypoint and say you must purchase through their website to get one month extra.

The thing with SS, if you look at your profile, you can remove your CC however it seems based on what it says that you would be cancelling their service and there is no refund. I will just speak to them at the time of renewal. If there is a place to remove the card with not affecting the service, I cannot find it and there are not many options there.

So can you purchase a deal and just extend your current subscription? My current subscription expires in May 2026

I was purchasing a new deal though Troy points affiliate app and surfshark wonā€™t apply the extra two months. Be aware, they keep telling me I have incorrect applied but I have screenshots shoeing the extra in the transaction.

If this is new, remember you have a 30 day grace period. Tell them you will cancel and they will jump through hoops to make you happy.

Surfshark just blocked my account, out of the blue. No explanation, no refund (I had pre paid for two years). Anyone else experiencing this?

Yep, same hereā€¦ Loved this app untilā€¦ apparently, they updated something in the AI to identify violation with your terms of service. I have used the service for years, and had no issues. This week, my account was blocked twice. The customer service can not tell me what I violated, but they canceled the account with no refund for the year still remaining on my subscriptionā€¦ I was reinstated, but I have no clue what I did wrong, so Iā€™m just waiting to be blocked again. Horrible service.
