sim_bill,
Thank you for you post here.
Your reference to a site that publishes STB reviews has started me on a enlightening experience.

Excuse my temporary departure from TroyPoint. :face_with_peeking_eye:
I have much to read at https://tvboxstop.com/
Thank you,

You are quite welcome. If you look at the performance charts on TVBox Stop you will see the Ugoos AM6 B Plus, which originally hit the market in 2021 is still listed very high on this chart. You can access their review of this device on their website. I purchased 2 of them off Amazon in 2021. They are the best streaming devices I have ever owned.

.
sim_bill,
My eyes have been on the TV Box site for hours now.
As I understand the Ugoos box OS is Android but they have altered permissions.
Am I interpreting this correctly?

By the way sim_billā€¦You are on my Christmas Card List now.
Thanks,
-N

Ugoos boxes are stock android, but they are very customizable, including the ability to install your choice of a custom Home Screen launcher, as well as TiViMate. Some folks make too big an issue as to no permissions on Stock android systems for high definition on premium streaming services. An easy way around this is to just install the apps for these services on your smart tv.

List of Things to Do Tomorrow.

  1. Ask wife for an advance on my allowance.
  2. Buy it anyways.

Cot damn, this exactly!

first of all it wonā€™t really effect the devices people already have as they have to still update the os until they no longer support the android version of amazon. Now your devices should still work theyā€™ll just be more acceptable to viruses and stuff like that. Also if your techy you can load your own OS on the device. As long as its an android based OS

Hi Jessica45qt,

How is loading a OS to a T95/Fire Stick/ONN box done?

I would love to revert one of my boxes to pre-Android 11 and get rid of those nasty permission levels.

Thank you,

Probably same time as the apocalypse lol lol they say not soon

Iā€™m using a 4k Max firestick with 64g USB stick on my main TV. It will be my last Amazon streaming device. Iā€™ve had many of them over the years and have set up some for friends and family.
I also have an ONN 4k box set up with a 64g flashdrive which works really great!
Recently I have been setting up a T95Z Plus 128GB with the remote that I got at Temu when TroyPoint first mentioned them. It was $21 and change for both. So far it has been working fairly well, a little laggy at times but it works fine.NO more firesticks for me!

I paid for a TDUK app and yesterday it stopped working on my Firestick after updsting the OS on my tv! I havent worked out how or why this has happened yet. Any clues anyone? It was an LG tv.

BREAKING NEWS! Most of us bought our last Amazon Streaming anything long ago. We are a small segment of their customers so they wonā€™t be all that distraught about it but still large enough that they still change their OS to hamper what we are doing. News Flash Amazon. Whatā€™s the point? We just wonā€™t purchase your products anymore so why do you really care what we do with them still?

At this point itā€™s old news and we can still sideload. No good speculating whatā€™s going to happen or when with the new Amazon OS. They will still need devs to have access for testing their apps. So at this point there isnā€™t much point in losing sleep over what may happen. We have options and always will. Have fun and STREAM ON!!!

Mine is still working but Techdoctoruk App Killer has stopped working

I bought the MeCool KM7+ and i find it really good. Not too expensive and as I live in Spain and dont have access to an ONN device a good alternative.

Just purchased 2 of latest firesticks that donā€™t allow side loading so I returned them immediately. Looking for a different option.

I have 3 Nvidia shields , 3 4K Firesticks, 1 2nd Gen 4k Fire TV box, 3 onn TV boxes. Iā€™m not worried.:rofl::rofl:

If youā€™re referring to the 4K Max Fire OS 8 you certainly can sideload 3rd party apps. Jailbreak them.
