Anyway, @westy686 this was your original post. After getting back full usage of the 32GB did you try formatting one of them again for internal memory? Did you have any issues the next day?

Question for you on the process to increase storage. Before YOU did this did you reset your firestick to factory defaults?
I am about to follow troypoint video again but I noticed this time at the beginning he said to format to factory defaults before proceeding with instruction to increase storage. I did not do that the last time. Maybe that is why it did not work the next day .

Hello @westy686 that’s not a requirement. I did it because it is quicker to do that and start fresh with all apps going to USB drive.

I’m a retired tech (mcse, network+, security+ etc) I’m extremely picky about the hardware I use and research anything of value before buying. All of my newer flash drives are Sandisk.

As far as the partitions I want to say I disagree but…you? Maybe I’m off my rocker.

I’ll try to dig up my notes and post the commands, but I’ve done it all from within ADB Shell.

Creating, formatting, mounting/unmounting, making active…and it worked, except I kept ending up with odd/improperly reported partition sizes.

In the end I did use Rufus. And still have odd reported partition sizes.

Thanks for your reply I resolved my issue. I was not running the command as administrator.

Doh lol. When that happens to me I call it a ‘senior moment’

My excuse anyways hehe.

Yeah I went through the same thing months ago. I just connected a 3.0 usb hub and used 2 different flash drives. One as int|ernal (apps) one as external (movies music etc.) 250 gigs each. Looking to expand the external going to use a few terabytes. See how that goes.
