I guess my topic got merged in with several others, even though it has more to do with Trakt and the Crew Wizard and nothing to do with the installation of Umbrella :man_shrugging:t2:

As I stated before, I think the issue might be caused by the wizard. I have noticed before that sometimes the settings you choose on the first run don’t save. You still have to open the wizard a second time and go into the settings to get them to stick. One of those in the installation settings is ā€œkeep my Trakt dataā€. Another one is ā€œkeep my advanced settingsā€. I’ve made sure both of those are on and I’m going to wait until there’s another Umbrella update to see what happens.

Just to let you know, I have Crew wizard on a few of my Kodis but I also use EZ Maintenance on a few. EZ Maintenance doesn’t have those 2 settings you mentioned and it still happens. :person_shrugging:

Not sure I’ve ever gone into the Crew Wizzard? I use the Grindhouse Builds which have their own Build wizzard and added Umbrella to the Build

Each time I open umbrella addon in kodi 21.1 on my onn 4k pro android box, I cannot figure out why anything but the umbrella image is shown instead of copies or photos of my movies added to watch list or when doing a search for movies and tv shows, etc…
What am I missing and doing wrong and can anyone advise me how and where to fix

ONN 4K pro and Umbrella issue
These work well together except for one thing that was possible under Firestick but not with ONN. This has to do with the user’s list of searches [movies and TV programs] and deleting individual entries. With FS, highlighting an entry, then hitting the three bar settings button allowed the user to ā€œclear search phrase,ā€ i.e. deleting the movie or TV title. With the ONN, this does not come up, and I could find no way to delete an item, after much searching on this forum. It would be nice to clean up the search list! Anyone solve this?

Go in to Umbrella Tools then right at the top select Cache Functions then again right at the top select Clear All Cache then on the pop up select OK. Hope this works for you. :+1:

Thanks for the suggestion. However, I only want to delete some entries, not all. If you click on the settings for an entry, options do come up - just not a delete.

Working for me on the ONN 4K Pro with Umbrella. When you are in your search history simply scroll down to the search (s) you want to remove, long press and hold the center button and you will see a popup that asks if you want to remove the search phrase. Scroll to yes, hit enter and done it’s removed

Aha, LONG press. I had not tried that. Thanks and problem solved!

Not sure if this is the place to post this, searched the forum and couldn’t find answer.

I have the Kodi Umbrella installed on firestick for maybe a year or so, followed these instructions when I installed it and it always worked fine. However, if I watch content in Umbrella and close the program to watch another app, say for instance youtube, Prime or Cinema. When I am done using those apps and go back to launch Kodi, it’s a black screen. Everytime, I have to restart firestick for Kodi to work again. And sometimes, I have to launch it with ā€œBackground Apps &Process List ā€œapp., clear cache first then launch. It’s a pain.

I have the updated version of Kodi and Umbrella, but hate to have to remove and reinstall the whole works, which I haven’t done yet. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

When that happens to me, I open the Kodi app and clear cache, then force stop. Close the app and then reopen. That always works for me. I do not use the firestick, but use a MeCool KM7+. I would think it would work for you also. In essence, shutting down the Firestick and restarting is basically the same as a force stop.

Thank you, Dminor, I’ll give that a try!

You will have to open the Kodi app in ā€œManage Appsā€ on the Firestick. That is where you can clear the cache and force stop. Just wanted to make that clear.

Ohh ok, sounds good. I’ll give her a try. Would I have to re log in to Kodi when I force stop? I can’t remember if I have a screen name or account for Kodi, or do they have accounts? It’s been so long since I installed it, and can’t recall. Never had any Issues other than this to have to do anything. Thanks again buddy!

There is no log in for Kodi. Once you go to manage apps, clear cache, and force stop, you just open it again and use it as you would any other time.

Force closing is definitely worth doing after exiting Kodi as it will still be running in the background but don’t clear cache as the cache will have to load every time you start the app and will just slow the apps opening time.

Install maintenance wizard and clear old packages and clear thumbnails occasionally to keep them from building up. You can clear cache within maintenance wizard if the app is have issues or maybe once every month if you like. You can also clean cache within an addon settings if some of its features are not working correctly

But clearing cache from android settings on Kodi should only be done if the app is unresponsive or not behaving as it should.

I clear Kodi’s cache after every time I use it. Loading time does not seem to be any slower on my device. I clear cache on all my apps daily as a matter of habit and have never had a slow down or a problem with any of them. Every one has their own way of doing things that work for them.

I tried it, but unfortunately it’s not loading the movie search. Then a umbrella error came up. I tried starting Kodi on the main menu in firestick, but it would load then go back to the menu. It loads fine in the app settings after clearing cach and force stop, but when I went to search for a movie, the loading circle never stopped. Perhaps it’s my firestick or something corrupt?

But I will always force stop from now on like you said, even if I have to reboot. I just dread a complete reformat or reinstall of kodi if it is corrupt.

I always thought if Kodi would still be running after exit. I think I seen a log out setting on upper left, but was afraid to use it.

As I explained clearing cache that has to be reloaded every time you clear it slows any program or app down. Clearing cache every day is pointless and doesn’t free up any cache as it only reloads as soon as you open an app or program.

I was explaining this to the user Cody. If you want to clear cache every day then carry on doing it but it serves no purpose unless you are having issues with an app or program then it can be helpful.

Sounds like it is time to uninstall and reinstall Kodi. Then reinstall Umbrella and the Coco scrapers. That would solve the problem. Reinstalling Kodi is easy. Google Play Store and search for Kodi. Then click on install. It installs itself. Search this site for Umbrella and follow the install instructions. There is no reason to dread doing it as it is not difficult. I don’t know how old the Firestick is you use, but looking for another streaming box might be a good idea. I also don’t know if the Google Play Store is available on the Firestick or whether the Amazon Store has a Kodi install available. I don’t use the Firestick. Maybe someone who does can help. I know that Amazon is really limiting what can and cannot be loaded onto the Firestick. The Onn 4K Pro gets great reviews and is really affordable. Just something to think about.
