Tried setting up ONN4K and keep getting error “Invalid Region”
I tried US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
Tried with QR code and by the remote.
Can anyone help?

Where are you? Its only available in US and PR. Otherwise you need to use a vpn.

Geo restricted, needs to be set up on an IP address in the USA or Puerto Rico, otherwise you have to use a hot spot that has a vpn set to a USA or Puerto Rico IP.

I’m in Canada but if I have a VPN on my TV when I try to set up will that work?

Search here on TP. Others have done this. I only know about the restriction.

Your vpn will need to be used/connected with the Onn device so if you can set up the vpn on your phone hotspot or through your router.

I’ve done this and written about it. You need to set it up using a Vpn hotspot set to the USA. SS won’t do that on android so I did it on my pc. Works fine and after it’s set up, you can have your vpn on the Onn anywhere you want BUT, it’s best to keep it on a USA site as you get not only a different menu but hundreds of free tv stations and music that will revert even if your VPN switches to a CDN server. Set it back and your menu changes back to the USA one.

The reason that I thought that the router might work is that ESPN, Peacock and Hulu apps aren’t VPN friendly with the device but work with our router’s VPN client engaged with a US address.

I wasnt going from experience since i am in the US but i would think having the vpn through your router would be the same as having the vpn through your phones hot spot.

The signal is already changed before it gets to the device. Provided you changed the location of course.

Lots of official services use VPN detection software so you need a VPN that use obfuscated servers.
You need to use the correct protocol to access the servers.
Surfshark you need to use OpenVPN
to use their obfuscated servers.
NordVPN have a new technology called
NordWhisper protocol that circumvent VPN tracking.

You can use any protocol you want to set up an Onn Pro. They don’t check or care, they only need you to be in the USA and you’re good to go…

I am in Canada and have two of ONN’s working. The $20 one as well as the PRO.
Never had a problem setting it up with no VPN whatsoever…

The originals were never a problem. It was reported by many that they had a problem with newer firmware of the PRO. I didn’t want to do things twice, so hotspot it was and everything is perfect.

I have three of them and set them up without vpn. I’m in Canada and have virgin mobile (same as bell) as Internet provider.
