The Stremio 1.6.15 Beta for Android TV has been added to the TROYPOINT Toolbox. This should also work fine on Fire TV systems as well.
Moving forward, we will keep the most recent beta release available in the Toolbox.
We’ve added the regular release as well as the 64-bit version for those who have devices that support it.
I haven’t tested this beta release so not sure how well it performs. Keep in mind that oftentimes there are bugs in these early beta releases and you may want to wait for it to be stable before using it.
Here’s what’s changed in the past 2 Beta releases.
- Added “Blur unwatched episodes image” setting
- Improved subtitles menu (select language first, then select subtitle variation)
- Updated Media3 (ExoPlayer) internal player
- Updated libVLC internal player
- Fixed page navigation issues (going back from player to streams page, episode page, etc)
- Fixed showing artwork when video is loading
- Fixed player crash when there are no subtitles
Maybe the updated internal players have fixed the audio lag issues.
Let us know what you think of this new release when you’ve had time to test it!

The update is already at 1.6.15 on the Stremio website
I guess I’m not crystal clear how to update over top of what I already have set up. Could someone “nudge” me forward? This is all done on PC or Laptop and then it magically appears on our boxes after force close and reopen? Thank you.

You can install new beta update over your existing installed version on your streaming device (or if preferred, uninstall and clean install new beta, login with credentials, everything follows from your prior) and if logged in, all your settings and lists are restored.
Application updates do not synchronize across all your devices, including PCs. While your lists and settings do, you will need to update app versions independently and login.

I will check my two Shields tonight for the update…but looking at my Windows version of Stremio, in the settings I see a tab for “clear local storage” can someone please tell me what that actually does? Is it like cleaning out cache?
Thank you @Masterofmydomain !
I have updated the links in the Toolbox with the updated 1.6.15 release.

You might be best off to uninstall what you have, and just reinstall the new version
@GraceWilson Im no expert , but im thinking you would have to uninstall the original then download the beta one . But again im no expert . So maybe wait and see if anyone else has ideas .
I just did the upgrade to the new 1.6.15 version. It installed right over the top and kept everything the same. I deleted cache, force closed. reopened and bingo, all good. I checked for the correct version in settings and it’s perfect.
I don’t know if any of you have tried the BOOTSTRAPPER installation but if you totally screw up your Stremio, just do a new BOOTSTRAPPER installation right over the top of your old one (which takes about 2 minutes) and it fixes pretty much anything with an outstanding collection of add ons. It’s pretty cool for how easy it is.

Where do you find Bootstrapper? Is it with instructions?
I followed the instructions and installed Bootstrapper. I’m not great at this, but when I tried to choose the “presets” I don’t think anything happened since, after syncing I couldn’t find any of the presets. I’m sure I screwed something up. Advise, please.
If you wish to customize addons, you can do so for any provided
If you are referring to this step, I recall that it takes a few seconds for the preset add ons to pop up. The box stays gray for several seconds and then pops them up. Be patient after you click on it and see if it pops. It’s possible a pop up blocker is affecting it, not an expert there. I do know that I thought it was not working but after doing it a few times, I saw it just takes a moment to pop them up.

Can I use both the beta and stable versions on the same device? I assume I can, but just want to be sure before installing. Thanks

I think any Stremio updates detect older versions installed and ask if you want to update.
If you opt to choose NO, I’m not sure if you have the option to do a concurrent installation.
Whoever created stremio bootstrapper needs a gift!
