I like Stemio, too. However, because it is free, I am always suspicious that it will suddenly disappear. How do they pay to keep it going? I use Syncler because it can be more reliable in the long term (because it is not free).

@jorom Here, this can answer your question. I provided a link for Stremio. Syncler is only 1 person developing so it can stop at anytime, but I hope it remains in constant development.

I have had Stremio for years without any issues. A lot of time these devs have a “buy me a coffee” link on their dev page and this is where those who can afford it, and enjoy the app, can donate to assist in the apps development. Of course addons are free. Always nice to help out those doing all the coding if you can afford it. I have just found it to be much more stable and easy to use compared to other apps with all the steps needed just to get them working. I have literally had it set up for month after month and not had to make any changes. I also love the fact that I configure it just once and then any new device I get I simply add Stremio and log into it and voila, all my setup is applied and there for me to use without doing anything more. It’s simply magic. Lol.

Kodi has been around for over twenty years and all the third party add-ons have been free.
The devs do it as challenge and a hobby and for free.

Since I enjoy subtitles, I have found English subtitles more available on Stemio, and sometimes I can find a video link that I can’t find on Syncler. Also, RD no longer works on Syncler, but on Stremio it does. I think I will use Stemio more… Thanks.

What version of Syncler are you using?

The old one. I am unsure how to implement v2. A bit afraid that I will lose my watchlist, too.

You will need to update to the latest version of v1 or v2 for RD to work.
I don’t know how long the dev will support v1 so it may be worth installing v2 and starting fresh. If you use Trakt to to track content then that will not be affected.

How do I update to the lastest version of v1? Is there tutorial somewhere?

This is the official website.

I doubt you will be able to get v1.3.9.2 which had the RD fix from the installer anymore, so you may have to use the latest v2.
I can’t find v1.3.9.2 on any APK sites either only older versions.

Troy’s guide for v2

I’ve used them all, but for the last few years, Stremio has been my go to. Kodi can be tiresome at times, Syncler…why would I pay for something that won’t work with RD? So Stremio it is. What I like about Stremio is it doesn’t matter which platform you’re on, Stremio will update the app from anywhere. I’m a big horror buff and if I’m on my phone and find a movie I want to add to my Library, I just search and add. Next time I go to the app, it has been updated to include the movie I added from my phone, or iPad, or even my PC. Never had a problem with Stremio since I dumped CinemaHD. Ads where killing me. Syncler does work with RD but you have to update the app like you do with most apps and add-ons

The gooley is your friend

I second this! With RD is seamless!

I guess people find an app that works for them and stick with it - if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
I started off with Kodi years ago when there weren’t many other apps around and it does work very well, especially when teamed with RD or similar. But I found the interface very clunky, integrating add-ons over complicated and irritatingly slow to do searches and get the feeds.
I tried quite a few others such as Cinema but I couldn’t always get a feed for a search whereas Kodi could. I renember Miki praising Stremio (thanks!) so I tried it and have stuck with it ever since. I like the interface, it always gets feeds, it is fast and plays faultlessly with RD (I tried Premiumize but I didn’t like the interface as much but others prefer it - each to his own).
I have never tried Syncler - it seems complicated to set up and I’m not sure what extra I would get over Stremio for the price.
If I was in your position I would try Kodi and Stremio first as they are free. If you like one of them enough then stay with it and keep the other as back up. If you find both fall short of what you want then buy Syncler and try that.
The key to smooth buffer-free watching is to use Premiumize or RD etc, whichever app you use.
Best of luck streaming!!
