"However, even after getting through the Warning messages to choose a channel, we did not have any luck getting content to play as it stated “Can’t load data. Check your connection”.

I probably started cutting post Mobdro. There used to be an app that offered local channels 2 thru 13 etc.
Anybody aware, does Mobdro offer 2 thru 13 in their featured channels from around the world.

They might but it’s probably pointless. From my quoted comment of Troy’s review just above he couldn’t get anything to work. If no content plays that’s a showstopper for me

Boy, is this a blast from the past. I remember using it when there weren’t so many higher quality choices for IPTV. Now that there are, I would never again use Mobdro under any circumstances. It was never that great and the channels buffered A LOT. Even if it performed well, the security issues would be enough for me to say “Nope”.

Thanks for the comeback. There used to be an app for local channels, don’t recall the name and I didn’t have it for long before they shut it down. I only use Kodi and a couple side loaded apps for hockey. Used to have an old antennae on the roof but the wind took care of that. Now I have digital antennae in my attic w/amplifier, but it kinda struggles with some channels
Maybe someday there will be a new app for local channels. Hope…

Miki, thanks for the info on “Local Now”. I went on the app looking for ABC NY. All that they offer is Arizona and Detroit. As of now as far as I can figure is: I would need a new roof antenna or a pay service that includes local channels. I’m not real good at paying…

When setting it up did you chose your town? I just went to NY and seems to be quite a few. I didn’t switch servers though.

What I did is I opened the app on my PC, not installing it on a device. I then chose my hometown (NY). opened the question and entered ABC also ABC NY and all that came up was Arizona and Detroit. I used ABC because it’s a local news channel.

Yea Miki! This app works excellent for being free of charge. Most of the channels, movies and shows are loss leaders but hey, it’s free!

I luuuuuvs free. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

What’s URL for It?

Yea I think the app you are thinking of was Locast. The broadcasters forced them to shut down.

The requirement to “share idle resources” is the same as LivenetTV. I suspect the developers are just linking to LivenetTV’s sources (which, in turn, are remarkably similar to RedBoxTV).

Locast was a phenomenal service but, as usual, the greedy networks and studios got it shut down with a technicality.

Yes, Locast was the app. It was a great alternative when my digital antenna decided there was to much interference to function. Now when it’s down, as Locast used to be the save all, sometimes there are only pixels and that is the end of the news for me. Thanks for the memory jog.

Thanks for the feed Miki.

Try the “LOOP” add on for Kodi. It gets most of the local channels from all over the USA. It is free.
