Here are my favorite things of 2024. This list doesn’t focus only on new items released this past year as I still have favorites that are a few years old. Also, you will see that I haven’t provided reviews for some of these items but plan to do so in the upcoming year. I use…

Im wondering why you use a dvr ? If you have Syncler you can pretty much watch any show , episode when you want . Aslo i thought you went to Weyd instead of Syncler .

From Troy’s topic. Quote: I jump around to different streaming apps but I always return to Syncler as it’s easy to use and provides everything I need.

Right but he says later in the post he has a whole house dvr . Why would you need a dvr if you can just find what yu are looking for in syncler .

Or are you talking about Weyd . I like Wyed . I used it for a year . But always came back to Syncler too . And why pay for 2 services .

Local news broadcasts, maybe with someone you know on there that you would want to record…sports games that you may miss by doing family stuff, come back home and watch (or games you may want to re-watch)…unique shows/movies that might not be on our streaming apps…I’m sure there are a myriad of other reasons to record cable/ota channels. DVR system is just another tool in Troy’s Toolbelt.

I haven’t a clue why Troy does what he does. I can only guess, and I suspect, if he has kids, then maybe he uses it for the Kiddos to keep them occupied in another room, while he has some “ME” time, or for him to watch a movie in peace and quiet. The ways a whole home DVR can be valuable are almost limitless depending on each persons personal choices.

Hello, I went back to Syncler as subtitles didn’t seem as good. Regarding DVR, I use that for my daily news shows that I can’t get through on-demand apps and sporting events.

I agree with you about plex trying to “do to much” , I call it play by the book :joy:
I’m a lifetime Emby user but I also have Jellyfin. With a little setup it can take tivimates place(almost)

Speaking of meat thermometers, we use a wireless TempSpike blue tooth meat thermometer because it’s got a booster module that extends the range (not sure if they all have that). Got one for the brother in law because his smoker isn’t very close to the house.

Great list, long live the Nvidia Shield! Onn pro as a br kids room or guest room solution. Surprised Stremio didn’t make the list. And I would never have pegged you as a Tesla owner lol.

I’m also a ONN fan, and I seem to be using it more than my nVidia Shield Pro. I really can’t tell a shoe to of difference except for upscaling of course. I just picked up an ONN at Walmart on sale for $39 with a $5 discount, it can’t be beat for $35! Happy New Year everyone!

This reply is specific to Troy or anyone who owns a Tesla. I recently purchased a Tesla model 3 and have had it for about 4 months. It truly is an amazing technological piece of equipment. Enjoying it very much. It’s the first car I’ve really been excited about. I find myself looking for a reason to drive the car!
