And this is also important if you travel with your device. Maunally set the date and time and you should be able to connect to your motel/hotel’s captive internet portal.

Get an Onn Plus or Pro. But I would definitely try all of Miki’s suggestions first.

Thank you Thank you Thank you. I the app from Downloader using the AFTVNEWS code and it worked like a charm. I don’t use YouTube much, but big brother, G…, disabled my Newpipe app sometime ago. Now I’m back! Way to go Reece.

@Avid08: Thanks to you as well for your great input on installing Tizen.

Yet another, but minor, oddity with the Pro: TizenTube doesn’t load if Tailscale is active. Our other devices, Tizen operates well regardless of the status of Tailscale.
Not a biggie, but kind of strange.
Curious. What is your use case for tailscale?
I use Tailscale to remotely access my Jellyfin server.

This is both a request for help from others and expressing my disappointment with the ONN 4k Pro.
My older ONN 4k streaming box started having issues. After reading all the great reviews over the past year or so about the ONN 4k Pro I went to Walmart and bought one! Let’s say after setting up I am very disappointed. My main issue is the picture/screen is very dull. I went through all the settings to see if the brightness could be adjusted. I have searched on Troypoint to see if others have had this problem but did not find anything. It is not the TV. I can switch to “regular cable” and the picture is fine.
If anyone has suggestions on how to change the brightness on the ONN 4k pro your guidance would be appreciated! If I can’t find a solution I am returning the unit and just getting the $20.00 ONN 4k streamer. I have had good luck with these boxes.
I would try a new hdmi cable. The box should have great picture. I use one and it looks great

@MikeJ ….a new HDMI cable as @Throttlejockey suggested hopefully works, if not maybe you got a bad box, sadly it does happen, so if you’re still in the 30 day window take it back and try another 4k Pro, they really are a good little box…I’ve got one of the early ones an it’s still streaming right along …. good luck…

@MikeJ, just for grins, try using the HDMI cable from your older ONN 4k on your new box, if you have not already.

I am using the older cable. I am going to try the one which was included with the 4k Pro. Thanks for the reply!

I’ve just never been impressed with the cables that are included with the streaming boxes I have. So I’ve always upgraded the HDMI cables. But just doing the swap might give you a better idea of what is going on if it fixes the issue.
Please let us know of your outcome when you get a chance.

Thank you to all for suggesting switching the HDMI cable. I did this, but no joy.
I think I am just going to return the 4kPro to Walmart and go with the regular 4k. These boxes have served my needs quite well since they were first introduced several years ago.

@MikeJ….if your not on your way to wally yet, maybe try this one other thing, with the HDMI that you know does work try a different HDMI port on the tv, just like getting a bad box sometimes-HDMI ports can be finiky as well. but i understand your older 4k Onn preference, i have one of the very first on my bedroom tv (upstairs on the other side of the house, an OLD Dynex brand, and it consistently does WI FI much faster than my 4K Pro in the livingroom, and works just fine.

I don’t know if you’ve already did this but go into your TV settings for that HDMI input and adjust all the settings to your liking. Each HDMI input on these smart TVs Have their own separate settings. My Vizio OLED is like that and my TCL that I purchased years ago used to drive me nuts when I switched inputs The picture would be in factory settings. For example I leave my TV in calibrated dark mode if I go to calibrate it all the settings are not the same I wish these TVs would have a setting you just click to set all the same. So if you disconnected your cable box and connected the onn Pro that would be a good way to check if it’s a problem with the onn pro so hope I’ve helped if not already tried.

I don’t know why nobody has suggested this so I need to chime in. Have you considered your Onn Pro is defective? Why not exhange it at Walmart and test it again. I’ve not heard anyone with this problem and your 4k works. That would be my recommendation.

On LG TVS image settings have to set for each HDMI input. You do have the option to set one port then apply all those settings to all inputs for ease. Thats if you are happy with those settings for all devices connected to your TV. I would hope most smart TVs have this option but not totally sure. But the only smart TVs I have owned in the last 10 years have been LG.
