JPM69, looks like I need to upgrade my 1080p RCA TV, as I went into the setup menu and had no setting to change to CEC. Looks like this is a very old TV. Probable why the remote setup will not work. Thanks for all your help on this issue

Id hold off a new tv just yet if you dont need one.
CEC may not be needed for you. If your tv uses Infrared (IR) for its remote then you just need the correct signal.
Your onn remote already recognizes your onn pro box.
I have an older Sharp 1080 TV that doesnt use CEC. I use my Nvidia and as a back up i have my old Onn 4k (non pro).
Both remotes turn on my tv using IR. The Nvidia and Onn both turn on as well.
My 4k tv is set up with CEC but that is because it turns on my soundbar as well.
Great news, so how do I select (IR) from my Onn Pro remote as it is hooked up on my Onn box I think by Bluetooth, Not sure what to do

In the Onn pro, it is under Settings, Remote and Accessories, then select set up remote buttons.
Go to Set up remote buttons and add you RCA under Add device if you havent yet. Id do it again if you dont think the IR is coded correctly. If your TV powers on/off you should be ok to continue. You should also set up volume too.
Then go to Power button (under remote buttons). You have a list of options: auto cec, tv cec , onn and RCA TV (IR). Chose RCA (IR).
Hopefully that works for you. My Sharp tv is pre “smart” days and it found its IR code.

JPM69 again thanks for your input on this problem. I cannot program my Onn remote to my RCA TV, all the 14 suggestions for the power button and the volume button will not work, when I go under power button I see the IR RCA TV( power button not setup) but it is grayed out, cannot select that option. I think I will go through some other TV’S setup and maybe get lucky that one of the other TV codes will work

I am still in the beginning stages of setting up the Wally box. I have 3 devices pretty much side-by-side. They are about 20 feet away from my router on wifi. I have gig speed fiber to the house. All 3 boxes are currently plugged into my TV and I am running through IPVanish (I will have some notes on IPV in a bit).
The photos were taken in succession with the ONN box first, Nvidia Shield Pro (latest model), and Fire Cube (2nd gen).

NOTE: I’ve been having recurring issues over the past few months with IP Vanish not working. I originally contacted Tech Support with no real results. So I contacted Tech Support by email and felt that I got the runaround. Basically stated that my ISP may be throttling. But when I would turn off the VPN there was no sign of throttling. SO I signed up for Surfshark even though I have 3 months left on my IPV account.)

Ok. Hopefully one of the other codes work for you. Sorry.

I am curious how your speed test differs with a different VPN.
I use IPV as well and see the same reult as you do when i test my Onn Pro speed on Analiti. However my non IPV speed is about 115mbps.
But if i use a diffent Speed Tester app i dont see such a dramatic decrease. Unless I use Ookla. Then the results are as if I’m using dial up.
So i dont know what app to trust in give accurate speeds.
And why would one device differ so much using the same vpn from another?

When I got the Shield Pro I had found that the Mbps was about 50% higher than on the Cube. Of course both were fast enough that I never really had any buffering/lag. At first I attributed it to the receiving antenna. But I started thinking that possibly it could be the processor. I was just surprised with the stark difference between the Cube and the Wally pro in this current test. So the next step is to duplicate the speed testing without a VPN. I recall that IPV support asked me about the speeds with the VPN off. It was significantly higher and fully functional than the 5.0Mbps with the IPV.
I just use Analiti since it is Troy’s tester of choice. I do recall using the speed tester in Def Squid and it always showed a lower speed than Analiti.
Wondering if there is a better remote for the 4k pro…really annoying free tv blue button of death seriously gets in the way…

Someone somewhere in TP mentions an Onn universal remote I believe. Seach TP and you should find something. I believe others were saying their FS remotes work too.
Luckily both my Onn Pros have the original remote (non backlit/free tv button).

There is too much disparity between the Speed testers for me to trust any of them. If the results were with a close range of each other id be comfortable of the tests but to have one read 60mbps, another 25mps, and yet another 110mbps. It seems less like a science and more like guess work.
The difference is really when the vpn is connected. Most give similar results without it.
And I can see a VPN paying a tester to give them better results too. Not saying its happening but i wouldn’t be surprised.

This is from the Walmart website for this remote.
This remote can not connect RF/BT/WIFI device, such as Roku Stick, Fire TV Stick, Fire TV cube and onn 4K Streaming box 2023.
I have one and have not had any luck getting it to work on the Wally Pro. I will probably fiddle with it a bit more to see if I can get it to work. I very much prefer the layout of the buttons.
TXRon has had good luck pairing the Ugoos bt remote. I’m just not a fan of the button layout. But I am a finicky sort.

Like Troy has stated quite few times that you really only need something like 35mbps to stream 4k. But have noticed that if I fast forward/rewind on a slow signal I will get the pinwheel. And Troy seems to favor the Analiti tests so that seems to be the standard here.

Hey @JerryJ can ya link me to that info as that doesn’t show on the Fargo site. It says for streaming.

I know its Troys recommended tester but there really isnt anyone saying this one is 95% accurate. Or that one is 50% etc…
I think the vpn speeds mess up the speed test results. Their algorithms use different processes to get an answer.
But just my feel and uneducated guess.

Different test apps use different servers. Some use single. Some use multi. No two give identical results. I just make it a practivce to use 1 app and stick with it.
