I performed that on the oldest Onn 4k box. I have not tried on the 4k Pro, it doesn’t seem to me that it overheats. I do have it sitting on a fan like all my other boxes though.

If you read the little experiment i did. The Onn Pro definitely goes into a type of “Sleep mode” or shuts off. Otherwise when i changed my source from cable to Onn Pro i would not have needed to use power button to get the screen to show up. If it was always on the screen would be there ready to go.
And he never said it does overheat. Just that he thought it might.
@pedrorosado Here is an Amazon link to a drill bit stop set. It has pics of the stops both on and off of the drill bits. GL2U.
Drixet Drill Stop Bit Collar Set – Kit Includes: 1/8", 3/16”, 1/4”, 5/16”, 3/8”, 7/16” and 1/2-Inch with Allen Wrench to Tighten The Stops Set-Screws (7-Piece) https://a.co/d/3p6fs27
This is on my 4K Onn box, I have not had time to set up my pro. If you click on the gear on the right hand side. Go down to systems. Go to power and energy. you can set it to shut off whenever you want. I do not see why this wouldn’t be installed into pro because it’s the same operating system.

You 100% correct. It is available in both devices. I guess if you set it to “Never” the Pro wont turn off when inactive. But it still should and does turn off when you hit the power button.

I have both my 4K and 4K Pro set to “Never shut off” and as long as my TV is on they don’t. But when I power off my TV at night the Next morning they are off as they should be

I dont really understand that. If its set to Never why does it shut off? Or is your Pro set up with CEC with your tv?

I thought this was the way it worked for everyone? I’m not big on trying to control all my boxes with one remote. I don’t like messing with that crap I just change the HDMI source on my TV when I want to switch boxes and use each box’s remote. Anyway I just tested this on both my ONN’s HDMI CEC is enabled on both boxes (I don’t even know what CEC is! LOL). When I power off my TV using my TV’s remote the boxes turn off. Why wouldn’t they? Setting them to Never shut off works when you are watching but when you shut the power off how would the boxes stay on???

I totally agree, it shouldn’t overheat if device is turned off. But, I think my device was hot on the bottom the other day. I only use it at night and its off all day. I just checked and its a little warm, but so is my Firestick. They both are plugged into the same TV. This is crazy. They both should be cool to touch since they have not been on since 5am.

Yeah most likely the CEC (consumer electonic communication? ) is powering off your box through the tv hdmi connection. It can be a little tricky depending on the devices. Not everyones works the same or works at all.
My onn pro remote powers on my tv, sound bar and onn. But my tv only powers on my tv and sound bar (cable box too if needed). I’m ok with that and wont touch the settings right now.
I dont think you need to set it to never if your remote is powering it off. The setting is only if you want it to stay on when not being used.

Yeah not sure. I’ll check to see if its warm later after a few hours of rest.

I don’t think this is correct because the oppposite happens with my setup. I have it set to Never because it was shutting off by itself. As I said when I power the TV Off the ONN boxes shut down they do not stay on. This is exactly what I want

How ever it works for you. I think thats the CEC working your power.
I just read in the setting that it said, and I’m paraphrasing since im not home, "turn off after (selected) minutes when not in use.’ So if you selected ‘never’ i thought it wouldnt turn off when not in use. Your Onn was shutting off while you were using it?
Either way as long as its working to how you want it.

Yes I think the default setting was shut of after 120 minutes or something like that. There’s like 6 or 7 choices so I set both of them to Never and they don’t shut off until I Power my TV off. I do not use the onn/off at all on the ONN remotes

Mark, do the 4 red LEDs shut off on your box?
MarkxG
385
Well on the 4K Pro there are no lights at all. What box are you using? On the 4K regular there is only 1 light where are you seeing 4? LOL! Anyway on the regular 4K it’s the opposite. In the morning when my Box is off the light is Red. When I power on my TV it defaults to my 4K Pro and the light on the regular 4K is still red. If I want to watch my regular 4K box and switch the input on my TV to that Box then the light turns white
There on top of the box,4k Pro, They turn white when Voice actions enabled.

Oh wow just tested that (Hey Google!) and you are right. I think though the question was asked more in the context if there were LED Lights and do they change color when the box is turned off/on
