Troy has been promoting Smart Mail as a secure option to Gmail. As we all know, changing email addresses can be a pain. I have been using Go Daddy for many years. How does Go Daddy stack up?

Been using Gmail in Outlook for probably close to 20 years never had an issue. Most of the SPAM gets caught in the Spam Filter. The few that don’t I simply delete

Hello @jorom I haven’t used GoDaddy but I would definitely check your privacy settings and set those to the strongest privacy possible if you care about that. Some people don’t and I completely understand that.
Here is a link for that - https://www.godaddy.com/legal/agreements/cookie-policy
As I mention in my review, I started using StartMail for the privacy reasons but the unlimited aliases are what I really like. I don’t know if GoDaddy does that or not.
You mention the pain in switching services and that’s what kept me from doing it to begin with but they have a migration tool that works pretty well. Not sure if it supports GoDaddy though.
I show how the migration tool works in my video on the following page.

I never had any issues with GMail either. I switched because I wanted a private email service. Some don’t care about privacy and their free options will suit them just fine.

I run my PC with Surfshark. Doesn’t that keep me safe?

A VPN can’t do anything regarding the emails on free services like GMail. They can still scan your emails and sell your data to ad companies, etc. because your emails reside on their servers.

I have a full security package of Security apps from Proton. One of those is encrypted e:mail. Very easy to switch from gmail within the setup options. Also has aliases. I do use the paid version to access the added features like aliases.

I think my first email ever was MSN and I deleted it first of the year because I’d get 50-75 SPAM emails a day and it got overwhelming to glance through SPAM for real emails that snuck in there. Gone!
I’ve had no issues with GMAIL ever but keep seeing Proton, Smart Mail etc. as far more secure options. I hate having to PAY for email service but I’ll read through Troy’s article. I know Proton has a FREE option but don’t know how great it is.
On the Alias thing, I’ve used the Surf Shark alias a few times and it functions fine. It gives you a new identity in name, address and phone #. It forwards to me Apple ID .me account,

I de googled last year and it was the best choice I made. Gmail is free but you are the product. In other words you pay with your privacy. My google account got hacked one too many times. Personally I use Proton and use aliases for subscriptions and others.

How easy is it to use? Does Go Daddy create email names for me and keep track?

I have used it as an email service… for over 15 years. I do not understand what you are asking about creating email names.

This is where you have a “burner” email - normally with no info that is related to your normal email.
Go Daddy emails is linked to your real info
