Thanks JPM69 for your impute. It’s kind of confusing to me but, that is exactly what I did. I split tunneled only those apps that I know didn’t need the VPN until my Analiti speed test was close to what I was paying my ISP for when my VPN was connected.
Help me understand what you are meaning.

Split Tunneling the apps the apps that dont need a vpn is great.
Did you also ST the Analiti app? If you did you are not getting the actual vpn speed because Analiti isnt going through the vpn.
From my experience no matter how many apps you ST you will still get a reduced speed on apps using a vpn. Results will vary.
My Nvidia shield tv pro gets much better speeds than my Onn pro with the IPV VPN on. 120mps vs 70ish. This is on a 500mps wifi service.
Without a vpn around 450mps on each.
If there is an actual way to increase those low numbers i would love to know. It seems lime a never ending battle.

I got your solution but your not going to like it. Ditch the VPN!

My Shield Pro, ethernet and Proton. No speed loss at all.

That’s hard wired though. What about wifi?
Hey MarkxG, I agree with your views on a lot of things in theory, but when it comes down to actions, I’m a big scaredy cat Ha!

My WiFi on tablets and phones also get full speed, but I’m only about 10 ft from the modem.

Thats great but is there a downside to Proton? Why wont it make the top 3 with Troy? Are you using the Free, Plus or Unlimited plan?
I tested Nord recently and saw no significant difference in speed from IPV.
I would definitely switch if the speed test confirms for me the same results with or without vpn. Although some of my devices are a few rooms away.

No idea why it doesn’t make the top 3. My only complaint with it, is that they don’t give access to the full spectrum of settings on a streaming device. I have their full suite Unlimited plan. Cost me about $7.50 CDN/mth but that is for everything.

From what i can tell the Unlimited plan includes the Bells and Whistles like email and calender, etc. The actual vpn service and split tunneling should be exactly the same, right?
What cant you access on the devices? I usually only use the vpn and ST. I also like to find a close server if speedis lagging. But hopefully this isnt an issue with Proton.

The Unlimited does have everything. But on the shield you can only access the VPN split tunneling, protocols, locations . You can’t access things like kill switch and allways on. Not a huge deal. I use the safety dot to be sure my VPN is always active. I have bugged Proton about these issues but they are slow to implement changes.

I’ll give it shot. Thanks for the input my friend.

You can try the free VPN and see how it goes. They are usually full or near full servers though.

I went with the plus since i got 30 days to try it out.
Not getting anywhere near the results you are but they are slightly better than IPV. I still havent been able to get over 100 on Analiti with either VPN on the Onn Pro. I’ll try a few different nearby servers but i am not expecting much improvement.
I’ll try ST on some apps as well to see of that helps at all.
The closest I got was 99mps and that was using my Phone Hotspot instead of my ISP wifi.
Of course if i use the OTT Platform i get better results for both but i went only with Analiti for consistency.

Have you enabled the VPN accelerator? I also use the Speed UDP Wireguard protocol.

The VPN accelerator is only available on my phone. I dont see the option on my streaming devices. It was on by default on my phone.
I’ll test WireGuard to see if that helps.

You will never achieve the same speed that you have using a vpn.
You are using other nodes to route your traffic which is encrypted and routed through another server which increases latency and slows your speed down.
If your are losing no speed I would definitely check to see if the vpn you are using doesn’t have a dns leak.
Which would compromise your privacy.
If you are using a Debrid service then it is encrypted anyway.
Not sure what a vpn is going to achieve other than slow your connection down to their servers.
A vpn can’t match or increase the actual speed you have when not using a vpn.

I don’t fully understand the tech but Proton does indeed manage to speed up or maintain my full internet speed that my ISP provides. Haven’t a clue how but there are articles on their site that can be read on the ins and outs. I really don’t care as long as I have a quality product that does what I want, and gives me an enjoyable experience. I’m not the only one with the same experience and certainly don’t know why I get these good results, but I’m certainly not the only one. I’ve posted multiple screen shots of my speeds but won’t anymore as it’s futile. Ppl will believe what they want regardless of proof. As long as you get good streaming it doesn’t matter at all. Oh and certainly no leaks using multiple tests. I also use the TDUK DNS Switcher for encrypted DNS.

I have tried most of the big vpn providers including proton and vpn accelerator does help but it doesn’t offer full privacy using it.
I did lose speed and it definitely didn’t give me more speed than my isp provides because that is not possible.
