Can anyone suggest a VPN that actually works. I have been using surfshark for 6 months now. To get it to work with my IPTV is quite painful. It’s a very silly process of turning off the VPN turning on the IPTV and then turning back on the VPN. The whole reason that I got VPN service to begin with was to mask what I was watching on IPTV. It slows down everything to the point where the voice option on the mic isn’t even worth attempting to use if the VPN turned on. Before you start asking my network speed I’m currently running an Orbi 960 router with 4X satellites. I also have that paired with AT&T gigabit fiber service. Does anyone have a VPN that works with their IPTV service. Thank you ahead of time and yes I did search to see any topics or similar to this looking for answers but I cannot find anything.

I use Nord and have for about 3 years. They have improved a lot and have many different server choices. Regular, obfuscated, and double vpn with a lot of countries. I have not had a problem with any service I have had, and I have subscribed to over 7 of them.
I know Nord isn’t the sponsored one, but has never done me wrong.

Shut the VPN off you just don’t need it.

I have nord and surfshark (only use one at a time) with zero issues. I would be checking into your router as the culprit, it may need configuration.

No issues whatsoever with Surfshark on all the time. IPTV and video apps no problems. Located in eastern Ontario so I think it is your internet provider who is playing around.

Zero issues here with SurfShark on my Asus routers. I have also used SS on the individual boxes with no issues.
I wonder if there some settings or other things that are not right.

Trust me. It is not Surfshark blocking IPTV. It is the IPTV blocking certain IPS of VPNs. Best to use static servers and not ones that can rotate.

Free or paid version? I use Proton Pass and really like that service.
But SurfShark is still working flawlessly through Chicago and using WIreguard. My speeds drop from 400 to 150 but thats plenty fast.

Paid version of Proton VPN. Free version is no comparison honestly. Miki kept bragging on Proton so i tried it for a month then signed up for longer cause he was right. I get no speed drop using it and sometimes speed is faster with it

Hotwheels is right its the iptv srvc that blocks certain ip addresses. With SS i had to keep connecting and reconnecting till i got an ip that would work with my iptv srvc. With Proton i can choose a certain ip without having to reconnect repeatedly till i get one that works like i did with SS since they always choose the ip for you. If you have a router you can set SS up on then you can keep the same ip every time and not not to go through the reconnecting game. My router doest have vpn support so i wasnt able to go that route. SS wasnt a bad vpn in my opinion just wasnt for me. Also with Proton i get better speeds. Without vpn 100mb and with Proton vpn i average 100mb to up as far as 130mb sometimes. Highest i ever got with any other vpn was around 80mb. Thats my experience others my differ but i have never regretted getting Proton i love it. Definitely to really see how well it works you need to at least purchase a month because my experience with free version was horrible cause very few servers and they are too loaded to get any decent speeds. Hope this helps someone, if it wasnt for Miki sharing his good experience on here id prob never tried it but glad he did. Thanks bud for good advice i read on here

i don’t use a vpn for streaming and 4k video plays really nice…however i’ve turned on my SS just for giggles sometimes to stream stuff and other than cutting my speed in half? don’t really see a need for it ? i do use it to download movies and books i keep in my collection from torrent sites tho

I have both Surfshark and Private Internet Access. My streaming and IPTV works fine with either.
I don’t know how to describe this problem - “strength of masking the location?” - but PIA is much better than SS in “pretending” I am in another location. For example, with SS I may be denied access to a TV show in the UK, but with PIA I get access.

Proton the best one out there. Express also excellent.

Thank you everyone looks like proton is a way to go.
I hear ya, I brought this up last week. I’m so fed up with Surf Shark! I have reverted to NORD which I picked up back when IP Vanish was the recommended “#1” VPN and was bad as Surf Shark is now. I have not had a problem since switching to NORD.
Surfshark works flawlessly for me …… except when trying to circumvent geoblocking when accessing most UK tv channels through their apps from the US. BBC will work for a while but then report an error when I have to select a different server to continue. I usually have to try a couple of servers to get ITVX and Channel 5 to work at all, and I have not been able to get Channel 4 on any server for some while. I had the same issues in the past woth both Expressvpn and Nordvpn, including with their obfustcated servers.
If any Proton users, or users of any other vpn, can report success with these apps I would be very grateful.

Have you used the surfshark settings to get the best connection for you?
