Keyboard question- can anyone give me a specific brand name or Temu/AliExpress link? I have several Bluetooth 3.0 keyboards (the kind that have the blue letters “for Android”, “for Win”, and “for iOS” under the Q, W, and E keys) which I have tested on other PC’s, tablets, etc. but simply won’t pair with my ONN 4k Pro. It will always give the MAC ID, but then will either go (after a few seconds) directly to “cannot pair” or, after entering the 6-digit pairing code that sometimes (not always) appears, then says “connecting” but after a few seconds says, again, “cannot pair”. Thanks for any assistance.
I have paired the following keyboard from Amazon on both the Onn 4k and the 4k Pro. Also paired a couple of cheap, small keyboards purchased from Temu without any issues or problems. GL2U
CZUR Bluetooth Keyboard with… Amazon.com: CZUR Bluetooth Keyboard with Touchpad, Portable Rechargeable Computer Keyboard with Trackpad, Wireless Ultra Slim Keyboard for PC/Laptop/Tablet/Phone/Smart TV : Electronics
Mouse and other functions worked exactly as expected and described.

I got so tired of the advertising and suggestions for what to watch on my Fire cube that I bought the Google Onn 4K.
I have the same problem with it.
Is there some way to get rid of all their screens and just have the APKs that I loaded show on the main screen?
Try installing a custom launcher. I use Projectivity and like it a lot.

Hi All, just bought on. 4K pro, and realise the remote won’t work for me as it doesn’t have the red, green, blue, yellow buttons I need for an app I use. Wondering if anyone knows if it’s possible to get a 3rd party remote with those buttons to work with my new device? Cheers!

I use Projectivy too but if you want a semi fix, go to your account (click on your icon, upper left) and select account management, scroll down to “Apps Only mode” and turn it on.
It does still have a ad but removes the clutter, the only things I didn’t like about Apps Only mode is you have have to turn it off to use the app store and if you reboot it doesn’t restore any custom ordering of the apps, oh Google assist doesn’t work while it is on.
I tried projective on Android TV as it doesn’t support Apps Only mode which isn’t a bad alternative for not much effort, try it, I used it for a long time on all my Google TV devices.

I have been happy with the Wolf launcher. I have it on some of the Fire devices and all of the Andoid boxes. Both launchers and a lot of other good apps are available in the Troypoint toolbox.

it seems after android 10? all the boxes were locked down as far as recording with tivimate but sparkle works fine? not as versatile tho
i have a X96Max that’s on android 8 and it records and plays back 4k video awesome using tivimate? but boxes i bought with android 11 and above basically refuse to let you designate a recording folder using tivimate system picker…so i scoured the net for android 9 os streaming boxes…i have several and a 2019 shield…those older T95z’s are awesome…i have a couple but only one in the bedroom
2TB hard drives on both for recording and the pix is awesome on a Samsung and LG tv’s both 70"
some guy’s get a lil testy when i talk about this? android os 8 9 and 10 play 4k video flawlessly while able to use tivimate system picker to record to an external drive with no problems? seems you can’t do that on tivimate after android os 10?
i see guy’s say they have no problem recording to an external drive on the newer os of android? but don’t really say how they’re doing it using a larger external drive? say 1TB?..when i saw what was going on with the restrictions to recording a yr ago?
i have a few of the boxes with the older os systems and have them stashed away in the basement…i cannot figure out the advantage of using a newer android os system with tivimate if you want to record programs? clueless about that as everyone seems to have prob’s with that setup?

Both my Onn Pro and Nvidia can record on Tivimate and they are both after Android 10. I dont use the option but just tested and both recorded.
Or am i missing what you are saying?

My 2 old (6 or 7 years) T95Z Pro’s are retired but they are running Android 7. I don’t have a need or desire to record anything anymore but
I used to record on tivimate with them years ago. I don’t even have a clue what system picker is? Don’t need that on the older Android boxes to record

My Shield Pro is Android 11 and I record to either the internal drive or the Removeable storage that I have added. I schedule recordings and have no issues. I used X-plore to find the necessary files and give the permissions necessary to allow the proper files to be created and opened. There are lots of threads here mentioning how to do this and I thought you had attempted this a few times.

Yeah, it was a pita but I was able to get imy Onn4kPro to work with my 4tb NAS drive by using the SMB option in TiviMate…
The really awesome thing is that now I can watch something I recorded on the living room box and watch it on the bedroom box (and vice-versa). Very much DVR like.
