have you tried to do it on a hardrive bigger than 1TB?

I canā€™t afford something like that. I really donā€™t record at all. Bigger than a TB? Wow. Fat 32 and exfat can have issues with large drives from what Iā€™ve read. But never personally used one.

While it may be easier to record to the earlier versions of the android TV operating system, it doesnā€™t mean that it canā€™t be done on some of the newer versions. In Florida here, I have an H96Max V58 (Android 12) and am recording on Tivimate to a 1TB NTFS drive. Also, I have an H96Max M9 (Android 14), and it is recording with Tivimate to a 1 TB Exfat local drive. And Iā€™m not testy about this!

FYI: My NAS box is 4tb and records TiViMate beautifully via the SMB method.:+1:

JD I bought a buzz TV. Iā€™m waiting for it to be delivered. I think you were the one that told me you were using a buzz TVand Tivimate. What kind of issues are you having with the buzz TV and Tivimate? Any suggestions on what I should do to the buzz TV to get the Tivimade to work properly? Did you have to install an emulator?
I hope I can contact you from time to time for assistance once I get my buzz TV?
Thank you for your help

I had a buzz unit and added an internal ssd drive to its bay for recording from Tivimate. TiViMate installed just as easily as any android app on the box.

Hey Larry.
Yes, I have a U5 with an internal 512gb SSD h/d formatted in exFat that I can copy files to, etc but I never could get it to work correctly with TiViMate.
It would record for like a minute then just stop and I beat my head against a wall trying all kinds of things (formatting in different configurations, etc).
I ended up getting a NAS drive setup on my router with a TiviMate folder I created with sub folders for Recordings and Backups. Then l used the SMB option in TiviMate, input my NASā€™ IP address, then pointed it to the TiviMate/Recordinds folder I had created with x-Plore file mgr earlierā€¦
Now it works flawlessly, but maybe youā€™ll have better luck with it (internal drive) than I did.

Did you have any issues running Tivimate? I read somewhere that Buzz TVs would get an error code when changing channels. Then TV mate would freeze up.
What version of android were you using?
Thank you,

Not sure what version of Android was on the Buzz but I believe it was Android 11. I had no issues with running anything on the box. I used it for about a month and then got my Shield Pro and gave the Buzz to someone that couldnā€™t afford it.

I agree with you completely. I donā€™t think thereā€™s any other way around this if youā€™re doing recordings. Iā€™m getting my SMB network set up and will start recording soon. Thank you for the help.
Another question please
Have you had any issues playing Tivimate on your u5? I read somewhere that people are having problems changing channels. All of a sudden they would get an error code.
Thank you for the help

No, not at all - watching through it nowā€¦

Before uninstalling the launcher always make sure to go into the launcher settings and switch it back to default boot up (stock home screen). I learned this the hard way a few years ago myself .

What if weā€™re over the pond? This doesnā€™t seem available? Is there an alternative or do you know of those that have tried the ONN in the motherland?
Appreciated in advance.

I am in the UK and bought an ONN 4k box from Amazon as an alternative to the Firestick, but sadly cannot set it up even using my phone as a hotspot set to a US server. Unless you are in the US do NOT waste your money.

I did read an article where if you can change your location on your phone. Which there is apps on Play Store and it will give you a fake GPS location. To the US, then set your VPN to the US and use your phone as a hotspot. It should work, if it does, please let me know. Iā€™m in Canada. Good luck

I got my Onn pro on Saturday but have not yet started to set up. My thoughts in the event that it didnā€™t want a setup in Canada was to use my phone as a hot spot with my VPN set to the USA. I would think after the initial setup, it would not matter anymore. There must be other Canadians that have one. The 4k ones didnā€™t care at all. I have two of those and they just setup and very quickly.

** In other news, Amazon here also sold the Onn box but it was not the same as the one in the USA. It was close but no cigar. Miki will probably remember. This was awhile back.

I have tried by using Surfshark to set my location as the same as the vpn server and checked it on google maps resultin in a vpn and gps location as Kansas. However, the Onn box still would not set up, I still got the same error message.

If anyone outside of the USA has been able to set up this Onn pro box, could you please let us know and what you needed to do to achieve it. I will probably give mine a shot today, starting with my phone as a hotspot.

See Troyā€™s first impressions review on the Onn 4K Pro here on Troypoint. He provides instructions on how to properly set up this box so you can sideload apps without any issues.

The problem Bill is that if you are outside the US you cannot get past the ā€œUnsupported regionā€ error message to complete the set up, as the only choice is to reset the device which puts you back to the beginning.
