Understood. The last time I used it was last July, I plugged it into the active port that the DVD in the room was connected to, located the network and signed right in. There was no portal but true, most will have a welcome for the guest.

DVD or HDMI? I also remember over the last couple of years that there was one motel where I couldn’t crack the code and get the motel internet to work with my device. Or maybe I was just haggard and not willing to go to further steps.

Well as mentioned I used the active port, meaning HDMI that the DVD in the room was connected to. Sorry if it was misunderstood.

Hopefully you followed
If you are still having issues - unplug the box and reconnect after a couple of minutes, check date and time setting is correct.

I’m just not used to having a DVD player in a motel room. Maybe that’s what you get at the Ritz Carlton – I wouldn’t know lol No reason to apologize and thanks for the explanation.

That made me chucle. It’s not about the dvd at all, it was just an open HDMI port with a cord going to a dvd that I was able to connect directly to my device not even using my own cord. I just unplugged it and used that one,.

Candlewood Suites, had a DVD player in every room, had a library of DVDs at the front desk, all at no cost. Haven’t stayed in one for a few years now but my guess, no more.
I travelled to instruct Solaris,Linux, and other courses all over the country, I liked Candlewood because they had a full kitchen and I hated eating in restaurants all the time. Additionally 90% had the same layout.

When I was stuck in a city for more than a couple of day traveling for work, I did stay in a “suite” type motel. In Des Moines I think. It was a nice homey contrast to a typical motel for the reasons you stated (also couldn’t stand eating out all the time) and I remember there was a well-attended free happy hour with beer and hotdogs or something out by the pool. These days, we are traveling through and moteling it for one night hoping to get somewhere to visit family. And then usually staying at a destination motel for 4-5 days – where the streaming device comes in really handy.
