I was trying to use a 4gb scandisk thumbdrive and a Rii mini bluetooth usb wireless keyboard. None of them would work. I just ran out of patience so I just done a factory reset and it fixed it. I just had to reinstall all my apps. I don’t know what caused it. I’m learning. I’m glad to be apart of this great forum. Thank you guys for all the replies.

And they chg. A fortune fur it

@Sbatts cingrats bruh

I have 2 drives running, if you have the right formats it should be no problem.

Hey Troy, got the onn pro, works great. Dolby atmos and backlit remote. Sorry lol. Also I can open all third party apps with google assistant. Hope this helps!! K2

Can I ask what types of drives you use?? I’ve tried a few and the Onn doesn’t seem to recognize them. My latest attempt is a new Sandisk 256gb 3.0 flash drive. I want to use a USB drive as a source for storage if I record on Tivimate and I’m having problems…

These are what im normally using,…
SanDisk 64GB 5-Pack Ultra Fit USB… Amazon.com

I always add a drive on onn boxes with otg cable before its plugged in for the first time setting up.
After adding google account you’ll get a prompt that usb is detected, format as internal, move data. Also go through apps that you use like tivimate, launcher manager ,atv or wolf launchers and move to internal storage.

This is on a Onn pro with a hub, a 64gb and a samsung 2TB drive with all my files.

I tried hubs too, with and without Ethernet. I decided to just use Wi-Fi and connect a flash drive direct into the 3.0 input. I’ve also tried the larger Sandisk 1tb drive. I’ll keep working on this. Everything else has gone just swell setting up the Onn, Tivimate, etc. thanks to everyone here, but this USB storage thing is becoming more challenging.

Sent you DM.

Ha! Never mind, I got it to work with the Sandisk 1tb ssd! Now I’m trying to figure out how to tell Tivimate to choose this drive when recording things. I’m not seeing the drive in the recording settings there but I’ll keep workin on it.

You set it up as internal?

I see the external USB storage listed separately under Internal Storage so it’s there. When I select it I’m asked if I want to move anything from internal storage to it like my apps, etc. but I don’t want to move anything to it. Do I have to move Tivimate to it in order for Tivimate to see it as a choice when I record with that app? Or maybe Tivimate just doesn’t like recording to external storage. That’s fine. I can use internal because I don’t record much or keep recordings long anyway.

I tried using the 4Kpro at motel this past weekend, could not use it because they required a check mark to connect to WIFI. I think I need a mouse, I installed mouse from troypoint. problem is I do not understand how to the get mouse working. Any help with this?
Thanks for any help.

Tivimate records perfectly to External or removeable storage. I have my SSD set up as removeable storage and use the System picker to establish the recording folder route. What I have done, in the past, was to set up my 256GB SSD as 200GB removeable/external storage for recordings and 56GB as internal storage for apps, using ADB shell and the necessary commands. Troy has tuts for that. But then I found I use so few APPs that setting up extra Internal Storage for apps on the SSD was a waste of time as my Shield Pro has about 12GBs for apps and that’s more than enough, so now I just keep the SSD as removeable storage for Tivimate recordings or Stremio.

I tried to use System Picker in Tivimate recording settings but it said I don’t have an app set up to do that. What is the app I’d need in order for Tivilate to find its way to my external ssd?

System picker is the APP. I don’t have an ONN to test sorry.

Yeah, the precise language when selecting System Picker in Tivimate recording settings is, “You don’t have an app that can do this.” On the list below that it says, “Set up SMB.” I don’t know what SMB is or if that pertains to System Picker at all. Anyway, I’ll research Tivimate System Picker some more and see if I can’t figure this out.

Have you successfully added your USB drive as External storage? In Tivimate you click on the usb drive or on your internal storage that opens the folder tree. Then the System Picker should be active on the right when you click it. Unfortunately this will take effort to walk you through. So PM me and I can do this one step at a time for you.,
