fixed it, found Troypoints guide for this.

I got one after watching the review and love it. I feel like an idiot though as my power button can either control the power to the TV or soundbar but not both. I am sure there is something simple that I am missing.

Depends sometimes on your tv/soundbar brands and CEC compatibility. And having your sound bar connect that way to your tv (i think).
I know it was discussed either in this thread or a similar Onn Pro thread.
I have a samsung tv and sound bar and both turn on/off with pro remote.
Once you figure out the setting it is pretty handy. Can even power on/off them with your voice.
I’ll check my set up later.
Go into settings and either reset your remote or you can go into sound and display and add your device. It also asked you in the initial setup.

As @Throttlejockey says go to setting and set up the remote.
The configuration that worked for me is…
Volume Control: Samsung Soundbar (IR)
Power Button: TV (CEC)
Also make sure your tv has the CEC turned on.
I think this setup has the TV turn on the Soundbar when i power up the Onn Pro and Tv. Not 100% sure but its working this way so I dont change anything. Lol

I just bought a 4k max for another TV in the house (don’t ask me why
) and pilfered that remote to use on the Onn Pro. I tried what you suggested of holding on the home button for 10 secs, orange light flashing and the Onn in pairing mode but no luck. I tried while standing on my head, spinning in circles, over the shoulder to no avail. Was there any voodoo, chants or some kind of mystical magic that you might have used to get the darn thing to pair?

I take it it’s a later model 4K Maxx remote? That’s the only thing that would work on my shield Pro. Works great on my shield Pro except for the talk text doesn’t work. But it feels a lot better than that big triangle piece of crap!

I’m with ya there, my friend. Not a fan of the triangle, either. I was able to get an Alexa Voice Pro to work quite well on the Shield Pro. But I was trying to use the Stick 4K max remote on the Onn Pro. mthr1 was saying that he had success pairing the FS remote to his Onn. I think that I read that Mslea also was able to get the FS remote to work, also.

I didn’t have a spare firestick remote. So I was not able to test pairing it to new ONN Pro.
I’m still use my 4k Max daily and wasn’t comfortable testing with it.

Well as an update, as of yesterday my 4K Maxx remote will not control the volume on my shield Pro. All the other buttons work as before but not the volume. Works on the original triangle remote but not the 4K. Repaired at 2 or 3 times, reset the remote itself, rebooted Shield 4k max will not control the volume of the TV now. Repaired the 4K Maxx to the stick, fire stick and it would control the volume of the TV but will when repaired with the shield Pro it will not control the volume. Don’t have a clue why.

Well today I switched my 4K Maxx remotes between my fire stick and my shield Pro, and now the 4K Maxx remote that was re-paired with the shield Pro will now operate the volume. The 4K Maxx remote that was re-paired with the fire stick will now operate the volume on the fire stick. Why it quit operating the volume while paired with a shield Pro I still have no clue, but now it will operate the volume control when pair with the fire stick and it’s controlling the TV’s volume not a separate apps volume or devices volume.

Now see if you can get the 4K max remote to pair with the Onn Pro, if you get a chance. I’m just trying to get away from the Onn remote.

To login your Apollo app you have to use the “start up show” app and use your Apollo credentials to login! That’s what I had to do!

Hi, I have had the same problem with tivimate trying to use the system picker to select an external usb storage device for recordings. I keep getting the same message that there is not an app setup to do that. I assume its supposed to use an app I have installed as a file manager to let me browse to the external use storage and select the folder? In this message you mentioned that troy has tuts for that so I did a search and found a post on the forum that refered to this external site: How to use the System Picker Files app in Fire OS 8 on the 2nd-gen Fire TV Stick 4K & 4K Max to grant access to External USB Storage Drive Folders | AFTVnews
Is this the tutorial you may have been referring to? It is referring to fire devices and I am using a formuler z11 pro. Wondering if these directions are still applicable. Did you have to use adb shell to make this work?
As I was typing this, I found another posting where you mentioned a reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidQuestions/comments/192vfjt/is_there_a_way_to_access_the_datadata_folder_in/?rdt=33688
On a side note, as I peruse this forum and search for answers, I have found sooooo many answers to my questions from the information that you have shared in the past. So just know that you help more people than you probably realize by taking your time to answer questions and share your experiences. Thank you!

Most of the time the reason the system informs you that you don’t have an app to do that is that the file permissions access has not been established. This may give you some guidance.
I used the file access app X-plore to create the necessary files and to give access permissions for read and write. It certainly is a daunting experience at first but once you learn all the little things that need to be done it does come together.
