Bought one a month ago. It does have the backlight and the FreeTv button. Setup was simple. Device is fairly intuitive and handles much of the install. My only complaint is a lack of fast forward or rewind on the remote. It opts for the 10 and 15 second buttons which can take forever. So far, well worth the bucks.

Push the select button and then down on the ring and you can fast forward all you want.

I also had trouble with Onn remotes, paring is most difficult, it seems only the original remote will work for me…

I happen to love the original remote. It’s small and light. Very minimalist approach without all kinds of buttons I’ll never use. Doesn’t take long to get used to, and it paired with the Onn on the first try.

Bought one of these for travel since it is rather compact and Troy gave it a good review. For the price, the performance is very good. One of the few things I don’t like is some of the apps I wanted off the Google Playstore are not compatible with this operating system. That is offset to a degree by the ability to sideload most of the apps you want without any difficulty.

I checked to see if anyone has already posted on this and could not find. I find that by the way the power is on the with the new ONN 4K Pro, that when I shut off the TV with the ONN control the ONN Box stays on. How can I get power to the ONN from the TV usb. I have purchased an adapter from amazon but could not get a perfect fit. Has anyone resolved this issue

I am not entirely sure about where it is on the Onn 4K Pro but you should have a “Display & Sound” settings section, and under that you should have a “Power control” section, click that and you should find a large selection of options. My Power control is set to CEC.

Miki. Thanks. The power is set to CEC. But still the ONN 4K Pro stays on while the TV is off

I believe you need to go to Settings…System…Power and Energy. Then select the time frame for the device to turn off when idle.

Or you can say “hey Google power off” and see if that works too.

When you click on Power control you should be given a bunch of radio buttons to slide on or off. On my system there are 10. Settins like Turn on TV When Onn wakes, Turn off TV when Onn sleeps. Wake Onn When TV powers on, and so on. But have a look at @JPM69 post and see if that helps. He knows more about the Onn than I do.

What makes you think the onn dosent turn off with its own remote? I hit the power button on the onn remote and my tv, sound bar and onn all turn off.

I test by then turning on the tv and going to onn tv source and it isnt on.

The issue is that the new 4K ONN pro has power supply from 120v outlet and not from a usb from the tv like the previous 4K does. So I purchase a USB cord with numerous adapters which may go from TV to the 4K pro power in. None of the adapters fit correctly. One of them almost fit.

It is because when I am in a certain app which is buffering and I shut off the tv and then turn it back on it is still buffering. When i turn off the tv and disconnect the power cord and then reconnect in a few seconds it takes me back to the front of the ONN. This issue is only new with Walmart’s new version of their original ONN which supplies power with a usb cable which can go into a 120v power converter or supply from the usb port on the tv. The new 4K pro from Walmart does not have this option. Power cord straight into the box

I never used a usb for power with the Onn 4k (non pro). I plugged into the outlet.

Your HDMI cables can connect your tv and sound bars with the Onn Pro with CEC if available on them. That should power them all on/off with the Onn Pro remote. Takes a little but of trial and error to get the systems in synch.

I’ll try to take a look at the set up when i get a chance.

If the box has red or white lights on, then it’s on, standby mode. Lights off, box off. If you want it to turn off you’ll have to put the power cord on a timer.

The lights are only on for me if you turn off the microphone. Otherwise the are not illuminated while on or off. Only if you say Hey Google it will go on.

They’re on red if the microphone is off if it is on the lights are white and they stay on all the time. Unless there’s a setting that I don’t know about. This is for a 4K Pro

Yeah my mic is on but the light is off. Ill look for a setting.

I have the 4k pro without the backlit remote. Maybe they changed it?

I found a guide online. It is for the Nonbacklit/Free TV remote.

It mentions what i have said but I dont see any mention of the lights anywhere else.

I have the backlit, Free TV button one and the 4 LEDs stay on all the time. There not noticeable in a well lit room. Barely noticable in the dark.
